Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not much change with the 18Z GFS run. Track looks slightly further North and overall intensity looks a little weaker maybe? No major change though...

Gerry Murphy after the Nine News warned of "very strong winds indeed" on Sunday but said that even before then on Saturday night winds could reach storm force in some areas.

About the same I'd say, some slight filling of the depression as it moves across Ulster but still will be potent enough.

    Here comes the rain....again...

OO tune:rolleyes: that 12mm sector cannot be good news for the flooded areas such as Cork. Getting squally heavy showers here at the moment

Is there any estimates as to when the heavy stuff will start?

Powerful Storm Hits the Region This Weekend

iwsuk1.jpg A large and very powerful depression heading toward the United Kingdom and ireland this weekend will produce very stormy conditions to the region. Rain and drizzle will fall periodically this weekend; some of the rain will fall heavily at times. With the ground already saturated from excessive rainfall this month, flooding will result in some areas, especially across North West England, South West Scotland, Northern Ireland and East Ireland.

    iwsuk2.jpg

In addition to the rain and flooding, strong damaging winds will buffet the region this weekend. Winds on Saturday will be from the south and will be strong to gale force. Winds will remain strong to gale force on Sunday, but will be from the west. At times, winds may gust to storm force, especially along the west coast of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

High temperatures on Saturday will average 5-10 degrees across Scotland and 10-14 degrees elsewhere. High temperatures on Sunday will be much cooler in most areas. Highs will average 5-8 degrees across Scotland and 6-12 degrees elsewhere.

Pretty manky earlier this morning around 0700 with squally rain.

Dying out to showers now with occasional gusts. Overall just a typical wet day here.

Limerick seems to have been spared any major flooding so more rain will not be as serious as for the likes of Cork, Galway, Clare etc...

Lots of rain, very overcast with gusts here. This isn't going to help the flooding around here.

A soft morning over the hills and bogs of Ireland:

Rain has eased up here but sky looks menacing and winds have veered to the SSW.

Met Eireann : "Very windy or even stormy tonight" and "extremely windy tomorrow".

Severe rain storm moving through Oh my God this is incredible1:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Rain eased off here for about 5 minutes and it's starting to pour again. Floods is Carrick-on -shannon and getting worse, there is a flood beside the landmark which, if this rain continues, may flood the N4.

Wind is getting very strong here now as the windy part of the low begins to come in, torrential rain all morning and according to local radio flood water rising even higher, feel terrible sorry for everyone who has been forced from their homes.

    Keep safe this weekend

There was a guy from Met Eireann on the Marion Finnucane show this morning and he said that the worst of the rain was clearing through but that the wind was their main concern now for tonight and tomorrow as a very deep Atlantic Storm passes close to Ireland that will generate very stormy conditions and coastal flooding.

A bit late coming out today with something everyone on this forum has been talking about for a while now.

All he was doing was answering a question put to him, not issuing fresh weather warnings.
