There is about 50 left. The online reg will give you no indication of whether it is sold out or not. As soon as the number is reached the online reg will close. There are 140 offline registrations at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭fl&sh

probably not enough to cater for the crowd their going to get and its 10quid per day for those who get there early enough;)

I know the hotel validated the car parking for anyone who was playing during the short handed event.

Also there may be more parking than you think as the majority of the players are travelling from aboard.

Over that way last week Gordon, not sure about Hotel Car Park (it said guests had to pay e10 per night on sign:eek:) but roads around hotel are only p&d up till 6 on friday and free Sat/Sun.

Thanks Ciaran, the odds are I'll only have to pay the €10 once anyway.

If I make it any further than Friday I'll avail of the free on street parking.

re parking, there will be very few spaces available on the Friday. I used to park there when worked in town and everyone working in the general area parks there as is much cheaper than p&d. Used to be very few spaces after 9 am. Sat and Sun should be fine tho

As long as you don't arrive at the last minute then you will be fine.
Nearly 100 seats gone, I expect we will be able to fit 200-250 in depending on how the main event is running.

With most of the players travelling from abroad I think the ones that bust will play the 300 meaning it will fill up. Plus plenty of local players who wont get in the main will play this now.

Reg will open at The Ballsbridge Inn on Thurs at 2pm.

What is the story with registering for the main event sattelite.....are there seats left for registering on the day on Thursday? Also can I register for either the 300 or 200 game on Thursday at the venue also?

It looks like there will be some satellite seats available on the day - the cardroom opens at 2pm so you can register anytime after that.

None of the side events have completely sold out yet. The €300 event is likely to sell out as we will be restricted to 200 or so players and nearly 100 seats have already been sold.

The €150 nightly turbos look like they will get decent fields. We have had over 20 advance fully paid bookings for the first one.

You can register for any event from 2pm on Thursday except of course the main event...

    Starting chips 3k
    Rebuys/Top-up 4k

The blind structure is the same as the main event but with 1 exception, the 25-50 level has been added in.

I am delighted for Mike an Brian here, a sellout is always a super way to go

maybe next year some more Irish players will register for it early and not have a fiels of 80% French / Belgian players

It reminded me of the 1st International Poker Open in the RDS where we had to keep cautioning French players to speak only english at the tables, which they still ignore 3 years on

whereas it doesnt matter what they are speaking about, its an english only rule and while they may only be askng for directions to the toilet it could conceivably be that they are colluding, of which i am pretty sure was also going on

apart from that, I didnt have any complaints

I was fortunate to win a seat in the sattelite, but donked off with my ace high flush to a set which turned into a house as i drowned in the river of dreams / nightmares

so much a success that there are some seats already sold for the event for next year, they will probably have 1400 to 1500 next year, and it will still sell out, so much for the recession, please all Irish players, book early for next year, c'mon lads / ladies

    well done lads,

    Derek
the sattelite went on until 5:30 am
I was so tired that I checked into the hotel, after going to the room i strolled back to reception and apologised for my error of not being specific when i asked for a smoking room
i had forgotten to mention that i was also requiring that the TV would be working and that there would be a remote control, I also didnt mention that i wold have liked the phone to be working and asked for another room as the one thing i did request, i.e. a smoking room, was ignored and i saw a large no smoking sign on the door
arrived at my second room, phone working, a smoking room, though no ashtray and i rang reception to apologise once again as i had left out in my request that the remote control in the room would be for the TV in the room
they sent me another one, that worked
only to find the heating was off in that room, forget it i said and crashed out in 5 mins, out cold, literally, cold
woke up early, freezing, rang down to order brekkie, sorry sir, we dont do room service

used to be a great hotel when Jury's had it, kinda slipped on the room front now

I agree clamper. I (unsucessfully) played in the Thursday sattelite and the 300 event. I couldnt believe the amount of French people that were there as compared to Irish.....or even english speaking for that matter.

I think if you travel to an english speaking country to play in a tournament like this you should respect the english only rule when cards are on the table.....in between hands is grand but it was a complete joke the amount of times there was french going back and forth between active players.

It showed a hug lack of respect for non french speaking players at the table.....and I dont think the dealers were strict enough on it at all....basically because there was so much bitching and moaning every time the rule was mentioned....although one dealer did muck a players hand once.....but then he moved off to another table and it all started again....the rule should be universally enforced in the future.....for the sake of everyone's enjoyment.

That being said I think it as a great event and hope to go to the next one!!!

Was a very nice event as usuall and enjoyed it very much. Got busted in the first hour in day 2.

Just got somewhat "tilted" from all the french.

My second table in Day 1, I was also the only non-french at my table and each hand took at least 5 minutes, mostly around 10, this was insane, I just wanted to go outside and cry lol.

Standard hand: Bet UTG, Raise, Reraise and then Someone in MP is tanking for over five minutes and showing his card to the dealer for over five times, how sick it was and "how can I fold this?" so f sick. eventually he folded, two guys get it all in and he proudly anounces he folded Ace jack lol.

Also slowrolling was standard for them, although probably most of them don't even mean too but are just to stupid.

standard slowroll. called down on ATTxx board guy has AT and waits for hours because he wants to see the other guys hand first and then shows his AT lol.

Also I'm Belgian from the Flemish speaking part, but I understand french and I at least saw +5 times of "collusion".

Last table I was on day 1 fe:

french guy is in the pot and irish shortie on button shoves. Other french next to him stands up and says in somewhat disquised french that he had an ace the other one place next to that also said the same. And those comments made him call else he would have folded. Stuff like this were going on all the time.

I mean its such a joke, I speak dutch at the table but never during a hand, its just so disrespectful and It should just never been allowed and punished more harder. Now they didn't even get a warning after being said over 10 times they should quit with it.

But besides I liked everything very much and had much fun! Keep it going, will be there again next year.

Thank you for all your comments.

We know what we need to do to improve on what was aready great weekend of poker but thank you for your feedback. It helps whether I agree with or not.

The operational changes that we make you will all see in the Short-handed event this September.

I will announce the structure for the 2011 Deepstack main event soon.

I would recommend that any players wishing to play this event register early as I have already had many emails from players who have just got back home from this years one asking how they can register for next year.

Online registration will be open within 10 days. You have been warned...

i was annoyed i didnt get to play this as i had already commited to going to killarney with the lads.

I had said to myself that i will deffo play it next year but with all the comments about foreign language at the tables would deffo put me off, they should get 1 warning and then penalties after that(this has to be inforced).......same goes for the IPO, where i complained and the floor still did nothing about it....

    just my 2 pence worth

PS im glad you filled up with this event either way, proves that poker is going strong

This ruling was enforced!! There were a lot of penalties given out for this and it became an automatic 1 round of the table towards into Day 2 and 3. Also 1 round penalties for mucking out of turn. I dont't think Jp and the lads could have down much more than this

As a tournament organiser yourself I would have thought you might have checked with more thouroughness as to what went on at the event before making such a post about someone else's tournament. Especially as you were not there.

The biggest problem was that we should have had some of the main rules written out in the main languages before the tournament started and made sure that the players each had a copy.

The more experienced French and Italian players all understood this and were actually very helpful to us in getting the point across to the newer foreign players.

As Stephen who was there has pointed out, there were a lot of penalties issued for this.

Wasnt trying to knock your event at all, as i stated i was annoyed i couldnt play it.....

i was just going on what i had heard from people and from posts that there was foreign language used at the table in the middle of hands. i think there should be only english at all times at the table and im glad to hear from ste's post that it was enforced and im glad to hear it.

do you think you will increase the cap for next year? what was the ratio of irish players to foreign? maybe have a higher ratio of Irish players next year and an Irish player to take it down :D (ME)

ps westlife, they do call me with A high and get lucky

The cap will be 1500. If the Irish get their arses in gear and register early like everyone else did then maybe the ratio will be bigger.

It has been suggested that there are some VIP players that I should have kept seats for. If Andy Black can get on the phone to me to reserve a place then I see no reason why anyone else can't do the same. I look after the locals by keeping them informed, if they do not act on this information then they should not come bleating to me. (not aimed at you in particular, I have heard and read this elsewhere)

There was approximately 15% of the field Irish and maybe slightly more that were english speaking. I actually think that I was wrong not to employ all French Speaking staff and make it French only at the tables seeing as though I knew this would be the case. ;)
