Battery replacement for 'Polar' watch (with HR monitor)

Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY gotten their battery replaced in a normal jewellers in Rep. of Ireland. I know that Polar say you must send it to an authorised agent to void warranty or something like that. I'm a recreational user and so would not be worried if the waterproofing 'seal' was broken, just as long as it works after.…

If you have sent it to England (I think it's the nearest, as none in Northern Ireland?) how much did it cost, and what was the waiting time? I'm living in Limerick.
