does knowall possibly mean that we were never going to be allowed to keep our pistols after the the doj/gardai/minister decided that we might hurt ourselves with them ?
it is said that we copy what the uk does sooner or later , and it certainly does look like it as the legislation introduced is very like the british system , referees etc .

Correct & right our government cannot make their own decisions all our laws are virtually british based, they have not got the balls to go on their own decisions, what
the f--k are we paying good taxpayers money to moron's in government for when they cannot work on their own. This country will never change they will always live on the backs of the UK.

are you trying to say that you should be entitled to have all the handguns that you want and any calibre?Only a moraun would think like this

Maybe you don't believe in living in a free country, are you saying that all countries that allow freedom of gun ownership are dumb?

I for one i do not trust a country where only the army and police maybe own guns. Remember 45 million people have been killed in state run genocides since 1915, the first thing they do is to disarm the population, this is a fact.

Either we are trusted are we are not, if not it's a sad state on a nation that does not trust it's own.

And answer this, how come they have 7 times less firearms murders in the UK?
Could it be good policing? Thats what they're claiming anyway, in the UK the Police claim to be targeting the illegal importation of firearms and not sportspersons like here!

Actually the UK has more guncrime since Dunblane.when all the nasty handguns were taken away from the law abiding. And despite a rake of new gun laws and laws infringing personal liberties in the UK,which were put in to control criminals and terrorists[who generally dont obey the law at all].It has turned the UK into a violent, drunken, chav infested crime ridden police state where the criminal has more "rights" than the victim. It is now no bother to aquire an illegal firearm in the UK .A great pity ..As I lived in the UK in the late 80s and enjoyed it alot, until it started to change for the worse after 1989.:(:(

It's not really a fact if it's disputed, which it is. Risking a technical breach of Godwin, the laws on firearms ownership in Germany under the National Socialist government were initially liberalised.

Are you sure of that? If true, then the obvious answer is because they tightened their gun control laws and banned handguns in Britain. I don't think this supports your argument.

Okay, and we've crossed over into RKBA territory. So either we drop the topic or the thread gets pruned rather heavily, because conversations on this topic only ever go in one direction...

What exactly do you think this post was other than a direct reply to your question?

Risking a technical breach of Godwin, the laws on firearms ownership in Germany under the National Socialist government were initially liberalised.

Actually, they werent made any way worse than what they had been under the Weimar Govt. The NSDAP just tied it into belonging to the party to get a firearms liscense.[Which by and large was by 1939 near enough everyone living in Germany over 18].It was an easy enough matter to aquire a firearms permit. However there was never enough for military use,[The German army sufferd a chronic shortage of pistols for their officers.Hence you find all sorts of pistols from occupied countries pressed into service]not to mind the civillians,so most were pressed into military usage, civillian production ceased for the war had pirority. And most German males were being inducted to national service, firearms ownership by civillians was a absolute minority problem in the 3rd Reich.
By wars end the Allies with their "disarment "programme of Germany [read looting and plundering of civillians in a occupied country.] Were surprised at the amount of weaponary the "Kraut" civillians had in their possesion.Everything from current military weaponary to flintlocks andswords.

    From today's London Independent:
Mr James said cracking key suppliers means there are fewer guns on the streets and added it was wrong to suggest that guns can be bought cheaply and easily. He said: "It's a myth that you can go into a pub and pick up a gun for £50."

Point being in ref to my statement????
Reading it is just more whitewash."gun crime is thankfully rare"according to Mr David Hanson...Hate to say it but their own statistics of the home office contradict that statement over the last decade.
