Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Sick as a parrot , But as proud as hell , This Irish squad has surprised the crap out of me tonight , Just did not think they had this type of performance in them . But Hands up one of the best I have ever seen by any Irish Team home or away.

    Great stuff ,
    VERY VERY PROUD

I have much more respect for Anelka than Henry. Henry shouldn't be celebrating that. Fairplay to Evra as well.

Most galling of all wasn't the cheating, it was the way he celebrated it, running to the crowd like a madman.

At least have the decency to look embarrassed.
When Maradona scored his infamous goal in 1986 (I linked to it above), he said later in an interview that none of his teammates came to celebrate with him, assuming that it would be disallowed. So he hissed "come here and hug me or the ref won't allow it". It's all perception kids, remember that when you're pretending wo work later in life.

    was it offside also?

The fact that those Irish lads went there, played the French off the pitch against all the odds and were beaten by a blatant cheat is an absolute scandal.

I'm proud tonight, proud but f*cking angry.

Why the **** is Dunne not telling Henry to **** off?

Well done lads, superb performance, best i've seen from an irish team. Cheated out of the world cup...

Just thinking about the handball, it's a travesty that this can happen in our sport. What will it take to have technology?

When the likes of "minnow" like Ireland defeat a "major" team in similar circumstances to qualify for a major competition.:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,046 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Just when I think I can't get anymore angry..

.. they start playing the Black Eyed Peas in Stade de France!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,243 ✭✭✭✭Jesus Wept

Jebus I wish France had beaten us 5-0 tonight as opposed to having to listen to whinging for the next few years about how Henry robbed us.

We should have buried France in 90 minutes, they were there for the taking, we were too proud of ourselves for just having a go - Never cold blooded or clinical enough.

I've said it already but I'll reiterate my stance that all (or almost all) outrage should be focused on why football is run by prehistoric dinosaurs who don't allow the use of video replay technology for major decisions.
There is no good reason whatsoever for this.

    Ngog last week
    Henry this week.
    Someone else next week.

I couldn't give a fúck who, it matters not.

No - it should be pointed at the cheats, who cheat fellow pro's.

Henry shouldn't be absolved of his cheating actions tonight because there are no video replays - he is a cheater who chose to cheat because that is who he is.

    Big picture PLEASE.

Sik to my stomach. Gutted. Disgusted at Henry. So proud of the Irish lads.

Apart from the cheating, that was a brilliant team performance from the Irish team, when they where put to the test they showed true Irish spirit and it was magnificent.

    Unlucky lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Look at Henry sitting with Dunne trying to play it down!

    FFS

He has gone down a notch in my book.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,386 ✭✭✭EKRIUQ

We lost it in Dublin and I'm going to get really sick of debating Henry's goal hand ball and this crap of a Heroic performance, we lost over 2 games, that's it.

    Wow another moral Victory

    Not just Henry.
Evra dived in the first leg, Anelka in this one. Endemic cheating.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Look at Duff, tears streaming down his face, having run his heart and soul out for 2 hours.

Go look that lad in the eye Thierry, if you're able, and think about what you've done.

Why? They are both cheats also! Both dived in this tie looking for a penalty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,183 ✭✭✭dioltas

Fair play to the lads. Some dissappointment though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Great play from the Irish team a honest and brilliant performance. French fans should hang their heads in shame at cheating their way to South Africa like that. Henry who had a brilliant reputation up to this has now tainted it and will forever be remembered as a blatent cheat (and this is from an Arsenal fan who thought Henry was one of our best players ever).

Every man in White was a hero tonight.

Please forget about this "Moral Victory" and "you did us proud" stuff.

We played them off the park, and had two clear cut chances to win the game(Duff and Keane) which we missed.

Sick way to go out but the game should have been over by that stage.

I'm angry, frustrated and would gladly swing for the Henri right now. But mostly I'm bursting with pride, Ireland were fantastic to a man, What a great performance. Well done the travelling fans too, they were equally brilliant.

Pity we didnt play that well throughout the campaign we wouldnt have been in the playoffs!

    A load of cock

If FIFA were worth a fcuk they'd have a system in place to deal with blatant cheating like this in retrospect

it's insulting to the players and it's insulting to the fans that this can happen in the modern game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

    Time for the video ref
There are extra refs in the UEFA cup on both post at the moment under trial.

    That would have solved that.

Keane handled the ball five times tonight trying to gain advantage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

    i may vomit :(

ah FIFA were never gonna let us get to South Africa, something would have come up

    Sigh, one word DISGRACE!

Only thing is that we should be all proud of the irish team! Well done lads, stood up and were counted tonight, only thing missing is the the fact it is france not ireland going to SA!
