Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And some player from Denmark was on saying French got away with murder.

    Brian Jensen of Burnley.

    it was f*cking priceless.

he started all restrained for 45 seconds, trying to sound all diplomatic like they all do, and then it's like a voice went off in his head going 'f*ck it!'...and he ended up just coming out and all but condemning henry, using the word 'cheat' in the process.

    legend.

FIFA would be idiots to allow the game be replayed. Even if it was, what if there was another bad decision? Should it be replayed again!?

No, they need to fix what's wrong with the game, before any replay is played.

A day later and I'm still sick, disgusted and outraged. I've never been so upset after a game of football. Duff's tears said it all, a country's dreams shattered by a piece of incompetent refereeing buffoonery.

The fact that the entire Irish defence instantly put their hands up before the ball was in the net speaks volumes....its like they all stopped because they thought the whistle would be blown!

Probably the greatest performance by an Irish team since I first watched them as a kid vs Belgium in late 1986, all for nothing. It still leaves me so proud, and optimistic looking towards Euro 2012.

As a Liverpool fan I never called for a replay when Luis Garcia claimed and was awarded a goal that never was in 2005 vs Chelsea in the CL semi.

I didn't hear Man U fans call for a change to the score when Owen scored 7 minutes into injury time - beyond what was allocated - to beat Man C.

As an Irish fan I do not now have the right to call on the French to agree to a replay of this tie.

He tried it on, the ref didn't see it, he got away with it.
This is part and parcel of the game as currently constituted.
Not right - but part of football none the less.

Not right - but part of football none the less.

i know we obviously have a vested interest...but a country is going to have to take a stand at some point over this sort of stuff.

    the seedings.

    the cheating.

the lack of any acknowledgement from the powers that be.

    why not start with this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,656 ✭✭✭norrie rugger

why do you accept cheating as part of football?
As Cas said earlier, why should we not shout, why should we accept it and why can we not be the ones to set a precedent

You can scratch this one from your list, it was proved that the time added was bang on.

and for clarity would the replay be 0-0 or would france still be leading after the "first leg"

    This.

The only match reports that don't mention(or even entirely focus on) the handball are those on fifa.com and ffr.fr

It's like they're trying to brush it under the carpet. Disgraceful.

Terrible what happened last night, i don't think we'll be getting a replay though.

Just watch Henry on a Sky Sports video, i can't believe he still has the neck to say it wasn't deliberate, talk about kicking people when they are down.

i also read on yahoo someone said that blatter and platini were communicating with the referee when the goal went in to allow the goal or else he wouldn't be refereeing at the world cup!

Is that a pisstake? No way would they be able to communicate with the referee.

why not, they wanted france to make it to the world cup! at the rugby world cup in 2003 it looked like martin jihnson was in contact with clive woodward, why coulddnt the same happen?

    agreed on part 2.

    'it's not henry's fault'? really?

i mean, yeah, of course, someone dragged his hand onto the ball; not only dragged it onto the ball, but caressed it perfectly in order to place it on his right boot.

again, you can't abstain someone just because they're not caught.

this is what is wrong with football. it's accepted as 'part of the game'.

    f*cking ridiculous, i'm sorry.

it's all about the act, you must know that. just because you don't get caught, doesn't mean what you did was right. ffs man.

yaya say what ye like, its the referees fault for not seeing it...if he seen the handball then he would have given a free, he didnt give the free therefore france scored a goal and all goals are legal therefore it was legal!

its not whether the act is right or not, our rugby manager gives a few kicks in the rucks and that and his motto is if the ref doesnt see it then its legal!

    that's a semantics problem.

he doesn't actually mean it's 'legal' when he's telling you that.

he's simply encouraging you to cheat while you can't be seen.

if you were caught, you'd be penalised.

hence, the act is still wrong.

are you honestly not getting this?

It's legal in soccer so long as no one sees you stab someone in the face.

Theres a vote on a french website as to whether france desrve to be in the world cup

    http://www.lemonde.fr/sport/

Click the second option starting with NON to say no.

Its the vote bit in the middle towards the bottom of the page.

OK, aknowledgement that the hand was used on FIFA.com now, but it's only a very brief mention (on possibly the most important moment in the match).

Though, in fairness, spotting Evra's handball was fantastic!

I'd much rather see what the actually French opinion is rather then have a load of leprechauns rig yet another vote.
