Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

I bought a second hand xbox 360 recently for not much money
the reason it was cheap was because when you insert a game/dvd etc it comes up reading first of all then after about 20-30secs a message just comes up to open tray, now I was just wondering has anyone else came across this problem and how did they fix it or did they ever get it fixed
no rrod or anything on it

    Cheers for reading

yes i've come across a good few like this.
If you are willing to open it you will need to adjust one of the pots on the laser and give the lens a clean while your in their.

if your drive is not dead for some other reason this should get it reading discs again.

their are many guides on google for adjusting the pots as its a common problem.

If you had a hard-drive with your games already installed on it, I wonder would the xbox still verify the disk (in the first few seconds) and then continue to run the game from the hard-drive? I would give that a shot. Bring your games and HD to a friend and install to HD using his xbox. It could work

If you install game(s) on your Hard-drive with your friends 360 your you won't be able to play them your own 360. Games have to be played to the console which was used to install them. Pain the the arsé really, specially if you have 2 360's and transfer one HD to the other regularly.

Ah, kinda figured microsoft might do some crap like that. Out of curiosity, if I install a disk on my HD and then lose the disk, can a different disk still play the game on the HD or are the installations specific to one disk? (sorry for going off topic)

All games discs are pressed from the same master copy, so would be pretty much identical, don't think it would be possible for a console to tell the difference between 2 copies of the same game.
    Shouldn't be a problem
