Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying a refurbished Dell Mini 10 from the Dell outlet. I've heard that the majority of the laptops on sale there are ones that were cancelled after ordered so they couldn't sell them as new custom ones. It's spec is very goot for a netbook, 160gb harddrive, 1gb ram. I'm not going to be using it as my only comp. as I have a good desktop which will be used for playing games, downloading, watching videos etc so I don't really need a poweful machine, just something I can bring to college etc.

For around €240 including all fees and delivery I think it's an excellent deal but before I buy it I would like to find out a few things. If you could answer any of the following questions I would be eternally greatful-

-Has anyone had any issues or heard of anything bad about buying refurb laptops?

-Would I be better off buying off the UK site as I have a brother over there and I could get him to send it over when he gets it? Would this save any time/money(not to mention that theres many more colours available on the UK site but I not that bothered about colour)?

-I could get a 120gb Acer Aspire One refurb for around the same price. Would this be a better buy?

-Most importantly do you think the Dell Mini is a worthwhile purchase? Would I be simply wasting time and money buying it or any othe Netbooks for that matter?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    (sorry for the long post)

Refurbs are usually brand new or unwanted / cancelled orders or laptops that have been repaired - they still have warrenty so for saving yourself a few bob - go for it.

Ah don't bother with the current price your getting, it's easier to keep the order local.

Not in my opinion, the Dells are well made and you can even install Mac OS Leopard onto it.

No it's a good buy but you have to remember it's a basic machine, good for web browsing, word, excel, some media functionality etc. It's not a power house. I have a netbook too and I think it's great, perfect for my portable needs.
