Just wondering what you guys listen to when looking for some inspiration to move your ass in the gym?

Currently I listen to the following:

    Heaven Shall Burn - Iconoclast
Killswitch Engage - The end of heartache

Begin here and you can't go too far wrong.

    Also, Hatebreed.

The Prodigy - Invaders must die...

Or all of foo fighters set to shuffle.

And, just as an individual song, marilyn manson's 'Fight Song' is very good for getting in the mood.

any death or thrash normally does it for me, normally deicide or slayer. Honorary mention to pantera also.

And five finger death punch, a true legendary band in teh making

    Hi Folks.

Queens of the Stoneage's debut (Queens of the Stoneage) is great for the treadmill.

Its "Robot Rock" pace is great to turn on, tune in, drop pounds.

Anjd its heaviness and melody are just the right balance to keep you positive and make you fcukin sweat!!! :)

You two are just unfit! ;)

I love pretty much anything really heavy. I personally prefer Lamb of God (any album) on shuffle.

Trivium - Ember to Inferno atm.

Only now that you mentioned it :p.

Recent exercising favourites for me are Walls Of Jericho's The American Dream and Arch Enemy's Wages Of Sin.

Depends what I'm in the mood for or what I'm doing really.

    For speedwork or faster runs:
    Lamb of God
    Arch Enemy
    In Flames
    Mastodon
    Gojira
    Pantera
    Korpiklaani
    Tyr
    Amon Amarth
    Ensiferum

    Longer, slower runs:
    Dream Theater
    Opeth
    Rush
    Apocalyptica
    Nightwish
    Iron Maiden
    Blind Guardian

gym hahaa.. all i can do is walk 10's of 15min miles. not quite running

surprised no-one has said Pantene - Vulgar Display Of Power

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,526 ✭✭✭brendansmith

When im doing my weights i dont listen to music, the power must come from within ;). Its too distracting, you need to concentrate so you dont do yourself damage

However on running machine/ Bike / crosstrainer it has to be rush. They allow you to concentrate on maintaining a constant speed.

I reckon heavy stuff f*cks me up in the gym tbh.

My favourite running album was Reign In Blood, but recently I've found it hard to pace myself when listening to fast and heavy music. Now I run without music and it has made it much easier :) However when I was starting out and was self conscious of looking like a cripple, it helped me forget about everything around me.

But for weights, I tend to listen to hardcore such as Bad Brains and Sick Of It All. I guess the subtle 'healthy hardcore' mentality seems to help

Mastodon, Lamb of God, DevilDriver, and American Head Charge for the ol' weights. I dunno why, but anger just seems so appropriate when I'm lifting weights (and I'm a pussy by most weight-lifting standards, like, I just do dumbell curls and ****).

Something inspirational for the cross-trainer, like Tool, although the odd time signatures can sometimes throw me off a bit.
