Looking to buy a "cheap" SSD (perhaps even 2 for RAID 0 :D). Anyone able to recommend one? Even a 32 GB one is fine (am using a 40GB Partition for my OS atm and have space left over for 2 or 3 large games :))

If your going to spend 135euro on a gen 1 32gb ssd you'd be better of spending 170 on a 64gb Corsair one from komplett. I just ordered one there myself as my new os drive in the new build. 200/220mb is whats stated... Doubtfull i will see that though.

How do you make sense of a figure like 200/220mb when there's no context, is it consecutive writes, or random?

I'm keen to go SSD myself, but there's a lot of smoke and mirrors when it comes to believing performance figures touted by the manufacturers.

Most figures are gotten using a benchmark called ATTO. Its not really a good indication of real world performance to be honest.

I found this article pretty informative http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=3631 - it might be worth a quick read.

Went with an OCZ Vertex from pixmania.ie and a) it works and b) it is fast - although as its the first SSD I've used I don't know how it compares.
