Can anyone recommend a good mandolin, my budget is up to €50.

    Cheers.

Depends on where you are, but if in Dublin, there's a good kitchen store in Airside retail park, just north of Dublin airport and they have excellent ones there with multiple blades. The brand I got I think is Zyliss...it's white tough plastic and dishwasher safe...

Otherwise, try TK Maxx where they always have a few in stock.

    Hope this helps.

I got the Swissmar Borner V-Slicer. Only got it at Christmas but so far so good. The blade is very sharp and it has a thick and thin slicer and blade is very effective at slicing onions, carrots, potatoes and parsnips. Haven't tried any of the other blades for dicing or julienning yet.

Got it from amazon and it cost USD39.00, not sure how much shipping would be as I got a few more items with it but don’t think it would be a lot.
So far, I would recommend it.

    Best of luck.

    Thanks for the reply.

Just tried to get this shipped to Dublin and they say they can't ship that item to my address. :( this seems to be quite common for items from Amazon with blades, I had tried several other Mandolines from amazon earlier in the week.

I was walking all over town looking for a mandoline this morning. Saw some cheap < €10 yolks that didn't look up to much, and saw 2 in Stock (near St Stephen's Green) a Japanese one for €35 and Masterclass one for €70 - it's this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Master-Class-Stainless-Steel-Mandoline/dp/B0001IX3R8 €39 from Amazon but another €17 for shipping.

Can anyone recommend a decent model I can pick up in Dublin or order online? Ideally around €40 but can stretch that a bit for a good one.

    TIA

I got mine delivered from Amazon.co.uk to Ireland without any difficulty. This is the store I bought it from: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/seller/at-a-glance.html?ie=UTF8&isAmazonFulfilled=0&orderID=026-3419908-1756359&marketplaceSeller=1&seller=A39LSTY4A9J2UG

Was just looking at the master class mandolin on amazon and it has some pretty poor reviews.

Yes, I was just reading those reviews. Pity because I found it for £30 with free delivery. I can't find the one you got listed anywhere.

The address for the one that I got is in post 5. However if it is the case that you can find that and amazon simply won't ship it to Ireland, that is quite bizarre as I got mine shipped to Ireland just before Christmas.

Maybe your best bet is the kitchen store in Airside retail park, just north of Dublin airport which was mentioned in post 2.

    Best of luck.
