Is it ok and safe to run two exterior lights (not high wattage lights) from a spur taken from a ceiling rose or should i find the last light on the circut and take it from there.

I would think that as long as the circuit is protected by a proper MCB/Fuse(10A for 1.5mm cable most likely), and that all your connections are good, there should be no problem.

    Hi,

you need to clarify how many lights are on the circuit and there combined wattage. As this will tell you what amperage is been drawn. AS Watts divided by Voltage equals Amps. Then verify what amperage the fuse/MCB that is protecting the circuit. That tells you what amperage is left, Clarify what the two outside lights will draw and you have your answer.

If okay then, you can connect to any light rose on the circuit in question. You'll need to bring the Live and neutral and Earth to the new location for the light. Then decide if PIR operated or if the lights are to be wired independently or together.

Hope it helps. Also if your not confident then get some one who knows what there doing and remember to isolate the power when your connecting up to the light rose. Safety first...

On the circut are 5 lights + fan ( Kitchen, Hall, Sitting Room, Bathroom, Bathroom shaver light and Extractor fan) the exterior lights will be taken from the Sitting room celing rose and will be lantern type lights with maybe 60watt bulbs other bulbs are 100 watt.

    500w +120w =620w / 240 = 2.6 amps.

    Hi,

you should be okay. Only issue is where the lights will be and the amount of work required to install them and the placement of the light switch. Make sure you use an appropiate IP rated fixture for outdoor lights.
