that field floods absolutely every winter. you would think they would do something about it. menlo has seen worse in living memory.

That's my friend's house behind the ESB pole.
The problem there, is the turlough - there's an underground channel to Lough corrib, so when the lake level rises, so does the turlough, and there's no place to pump the water to when it floods.

I wonder how the floods will affect the quality of the drinking water.

Do what exactly? I know man is known for trying to conquer nature but low lying areas flood. Doing something about it just pushes the water elsewhere after lots of rain.

Having flooded fields is preferable to flooded roads and houses.

Probably calling work to tell them he'll be late while he's actually going around to old woman O'Tooles house for a quick rodgering...dirty capitalist swine!

Bit of ingenuity on show here from one of my neighbours! Their driveway has been completely flooded since yesterday (the level has gone down a lot since last night, actually). Fair play to them!

We've all seen the faces of those ravaged by the floods of Sri Lanka and New Orleans.

This award winning photograph of the recent flood waters rising in Galway captures the horror and suffering of the people.

Keep these people in your thoughts and prayers......
