Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just managed to do Loughrea - Galway (Galway Clinic) in 15 mins, and we were doing nowhere near 120kph as the motorway still hasn't opened... and we were going down the wrong way :D (ie. driving on right hand side) - Think we were only doing about 45MPH

No need for the blues n' two's as there was no-one else on it, but we did get an escort from one of the jeeps working on the motorway who had orange lights.

You can just about make out the central divider on the 'wrong side' :pac:

They opened it for emergency veichles this evening, so we happily obliged :D There was security at the entrance that we took (and at the end) - were pretty thick about letting us through, even with an escort ffs!

Who's running the new toll bridge on it? I'd say they can't wait either!

3 tolls between Galway and Dublin airport. I'd stick to the old road... it'll be much quieter!

A fellow boardsie posted this. Apparently the taoiseach has requested that the motorway be opened with restrictions so that traffic to and from Galway can still move

This is starting to look messy - i'm leaving for Galway in a few hours. I've 8" of ground clearance, guess that makes me ok for maybe a foot of water tops?

I talked to a lady in the roads section of Galway county Council 10 minutes ago. They can't confirm that the N6 will open, but aid to check back later.

    Updates here, post #8.

Do you mean the M6 motorway, from Ballinasloe to Doughiska?

That'd be the one; I've been watch trins/buses/planes/roads all day, and rang the CoCo at 12:23 about the N6 opening rumour.

didn't he notice the puddle around him? that may well be what's wrong with his car!

    Lunchtime news on RTE:

    - N6 is impassable at Ballinasloe
    - No trains or buses running between Galway and Athlone
    - M6 from Ballinasloe towards Galway will open at 3pm today to let thru the traffic that's trapped.
    - Frustrated motorists are already trying to get onto the closed motorway. They may delay the opening at 3pm and will be dealt with harshly.
