ive been working on a job in kilkee all week, coming in from Ennis, so taking the kilrush road out, there was one bad bend a few miles outside ennis, that was flooded but it was passable, i'm not out there today as the creche i use for my kid is closed due to local floods, but the lads i work with are gone to kilkee today and i havent heard anything about them having to turn back, so your ok i'd guess

Where in Ennis has gotten flooded? The railway line between Ennis and Limerick is closed anyway.

The Emergency Services are presently evacuating areas where flooding cannot be controlled by sandbags or pumps. Approximately 40 households at Elm Park (Gort Road) and Oakwood Drive (Watery Road) in Ennis have been evacuated today due to serious flooding. The Emergency Services are presently attempting to fill a breach in a river wall, close to the Club Bridge in Ennis Town Centre (Abbey Street Carpark). Ennis Recycling Centre and Ennis Dog Pound in the Gort Industrial State have been closed due to flooding.

The Emergency Services are monitoring levels of water on an ongoing basis. In the interests of personal safety people should avoid contact with flood waters and parents are requested to be particularly vigilant with children. A help line (1890-252943) has been set up for members of the public in Ennis.

Despite today’s respite from the heavy rain of previous days, it is expected that tidal conditions will continue to pose a flooding threat in County Clare and, in particular, Ennis. It is expected that further rain over the weekend will create additional flooding problems for Ennis.

Any news on relief and aid to the areas?
I know the emergency services are doing their best and I can only commend them for their tireless work so far but are there any citizen aid groups helping out the situation?
With some bad weather predicted for the coming days a strong community spirit and help can only help the process.

Tobartaoscan is severely damaged. The manholes have burst, leading to sewage running into nearby driveways.

Anywhere else around Ennis where burst manholes are causing this disgusting site?

Thanks for that ! I was in two minds about driving up to Galway tommorow (from Scarriff ) and that decides it. How bad is it up there ?

I came down to Feakle from Gort on the Scarriff road on Thursday night and there was a real big flood that we only just made it through at the top of the road near Lough Cutra. Is that still there ?
Also any more news on the Tulla rd would be appreciated.

Corrupt politicians helping their developer friends bypass the planning process. Thats why Ennis is flooding. Well done people lets elect these people yet again.

Allowing housing estates to be built on natural flood pains is just criminal.

Anyone know if Killanena is still an island. Is the road at Lough Cutra gatehouse still blocked? I got through to Gort on the Tulla road up to the N18 on Saturday but concerned to hear that that may be blocked now as well. Anyone any info on whether this is still blocked.

Because these bits of road are just into Galway there's no info on the Clare Coco site.

Try the Galway CoCo site, maybe they have the latest information. Or one of the Galway radio stations.

That stretch is still underwater as far as I know - people are coming through Faha (past Killanena GAA pitch) and up the Tulla road.
South of Killanena roads are clear - Caher cross now passable..dunno about Feakle though, sorry

The flood on the Feakle Scarriff road has been gone since Saturday.
The roads just look like a normal wet November around here really. The rivers are still high though and there is still a lot of water in the fields.
I dont know about the Feakle Kilanena road though, I was last on it on Thursday and it sounds like it may have gotten worse ?

I'm pretty sure feakle scariff is still unpassable, are you sure?

Looks like more rain tonight :/

The only place that appears to be safe is scarriff through whitegate :)

No extra water to be released at Parteen today

    Tuesday, November 24, 2009 - 01:13 PM

Clare County Council has confirmed that the ESB will not be increasing the release of water at Parteen today.

The council also announced that, for structural reasons, the bridge at Sixmilebridge Clare is closed.

Diversions are in place. On the R471 Shannon to Sixmilebridge road, a diversion is in place at Ministers Cross along the L3040 to Bunratty.

On the R470 Newmarket on Fergus to Sixmilebridge road, there is a diversion along the L3020. On the R470, a diversion is in place through L7024 at Annamore Bridge.

Yeah I wouldnt wish that on a Sedan, or one of those Euro-Minis but even a jeep would have a hard time with some of that ****.

Drove from Mayo to West Clare early this morning. You'll be diverted via Loughrea to get to the south side of Gort.

Months possibly. In the short term a few weeks is probable until water levels subside to inspect it properly. Even if it doesn't rain for a couple of weeks it will take time for the water levels to come down.

If they need to demolish it / reinforce it then that could take a month or months.

So nobody knows for sure I would say.

There was serious water lashing off it this past week, with pumps keeping the square passable.
