Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. said Ill start this because Im looking forward to it

    according to Benitez

Glen Johnson, Fabio Aurelio, Yossi Benayoun,Albert Riera and Gerrard will be fit for the game

    not sure about city

I predict a draw since city are the draw specialist at the moment but a high scoring draw 2-2 id say

if we can get our 1st team out baring Torres who looks like not making it I would have reasonable confidence of a win.

thight game my guess is 3-2 one way or the other, more so Liverpool.

Looking forward to it though was in Anfield for the Birmingham game and we were very very unlucky, then we got a luckyish break with the internationals over the last 10 days, win this and kick on.

That placenta must be the biz.

Hard to make predictions for any number of reasons - two teams that could score 4 goals each or none, even when playing each other!

Get off the fence, it's only your reputation at stake, and well....

    Some interesting stats:

Liverpool have scored 27 goals in the Premier League this season, notably 19 of those goals came at Anfield. 11 of their total goals were scored in the first-half with the remaining 16 in the second-half.

Only 4 of those total goals have come the way of a set-piece (2 of them penalties)

Man City have scored 21 goals this term in the Premier League, 8 of them coming on their travels.

Liverpool have conceded 6 goals at home.

Man City have conceded 6 away from home and 8 at home. Only 1 of their total 14 goals they have conceded have come the way of a corner. Liverpool have only managed to score twice from a corner in the Premier League this term from 27 goals.

Liverpool have scored 18 goals from open play while Man City have conceded 9 goals from open play.

From a personal point of view I think the final score will be somewhere in the region of

    Liverpool 3 Man City 1 14/1 (boylesports)

Good to see PL match threads back here, even if a little later than normal.

Liverpool will win this I reckon, I'll stick my neck out for 2-0

As poor as the Pool have been this season i would be shocked if they didn't win this game.City have overspent 2 years in a row and still look a top 10 team.I said i would be surprised if Hughes seen the season out there considering the investment. In saying that, i still think he is a half decent manager who has done well with clubs were he was in control of transfers. He is out of his depth trying to manage a 'real madrid' style club were the owners decide on 'some' of the transfers. It just doesn't work in England tbh.

    ;)

With these returning players back, I'm going to stick my neck out and predict a win for us. City have been poor of late and I really feel our luck must change soon. I'm confident that we'll get a good win which could be a turning point in our PL season and certainly a massive victory in the battle for 4th place. I'm expecting a big game from Gerrard, I feel he will be itching to get out there and start turning things round.

To be honest 3-1 at 14/1 isn't a bad shout imo. (I'm not a particularly overly-optimistic fan either usually)

good to hear Gerrard, Agger, Johnson, Aurelio etc back
Aquilani will hopefully get more than 10 mins as well.
    i predict 3-1 Liverpool :D

Tough day in my house as 3 sons and Husband support the 'pool and myself and my daughter support City

    2-1 to city

    1-1 i reckon

    2-1 to City for me.

Torres to score first, an OG from Carragher and Adebayor to head one in from a corner leaving a very tense last 10 minutes.

Both teams to lose by 6 goals some how.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭bluefinger

    Should win today.

City haven't been great especially away from home haven't won away since beating Portsmouth in August, and haven't won a match since end of September. I think they're very much still settling a lot of their players in. Bellamy might be the major threat.

We're at home and we've got probably 10 of our starting 11 out, notwithstanding match fitness levels. The only problem might be scoring goals, Given's been great for them and Torres is obviously absent. Ngog perhaps winning a penalty?

a six-pointer in terms of CL qualification.
    C'mon the reds

Weird fixture for us, usually tight, usually beaten. We need a win soon. But.

    Draw. Again.

Given, Zabaleta, Toure, Lescott, Bridge, De Jong, Barry, Ireland, SWP, Adebayor, Bellamy.

Subs: Taylor, Onuoha, Weiss, Johnson, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Kompany

Tevez on the bench with a knock apparently.

    So's ours unfortunately. :( :pac:

The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel, Ngog. Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, El Zhar, Aurelio, Riera, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos.

Looking forward to a cracker of a game. Good to have Prem back after that week!

    It should be a great game with 2 attacking sides that can't really defend. Judging by the team;

    Reina,
    Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Insua,
    ----Masch, Lucas,
    Kuyt---Gerrard---Babel,
    Ngog.

Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, El Zhar, Aurelio, Riera, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos.
    (Thanks Mike65!!:):))

having Gerrard back might give us the edge. Surprised to see Babel starting and, hopefully, Ngog can continue his run of form

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

i thought carra got a straight red against fulham... shouldn't he be suspended

not massively confident now.... i just hope Babel has a good game.. this really is his chance

Also any word on why Johnson isn't in the squad?

Come on Babel, Pleeeease take your chance!

where is johnson? i haven't heard any injury news about him.
Johnson has been out with a calf strain for a good while.

pool should be winning this but i think it maybe closer than we like, If we draw or lose the confidence level will take another hammering and we could finish outside the top 4. COME ON THE POOL

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Skrtel at right back gives me hope. I look forward to Bellers running at him.

id expect Carra RB and Skrtel CB. (though even with carra there i'd be terrified of Bellers pace against him)

    carra is right back.

we could look weak on the left flank, i look for babel to leave alot of space between himself and insua, could be a tough afternoon for insua.

the thing with babel is he'll play this game, and whether he plays well or badly, he won't start again for another 10/15 games.

    pointless.

benny will be straight back on the wing next week.

pointless for a squad player to fill in for an obviously tired first team member?
