The rake is x per hour, but is it in club rules how it must be taken? I wouldn't really object to be honest, as you pay x per hour to play there, and I tend to put more money in the pot than most people so its a good deal for me tbh.

I wouldn't complain to be honest, just leave a live table as fast as possible thats not getting any pots over €10.

I just can't believe there was a collection of Jackpot players that lead to an hour of no pots being over ten euro, how does that even happen in there!? Things must have changed alot since I was last in...

I agree with Smurph, paying rake for pots that you arent even involved in is a bit ridiculous, and verging on begging by the club.

Maybe they should take another look at their business model rather than looking for charity from players.

lol what would people prefer? Pay 1 euro each then or pay 30% rake on the next pot thats like 30 euro?

OP, you have to remember that the Jackpot isn't the classiest place to play poker, it's soft that's why people go there. The tables are dirty, the dealers aren't the best and it's a little grotty in general. I've FT'd a few times on Thursday night and taken it down once, and spending 7 hours straight in there isn't as much fun as it should be.

So you're gonna get abused because the people who go there and can handle the type of place are going to be a bit rough. Dirty place, dirty people.

I believe your story to an extent, but who was the cashier? Because I've never seen them get even slightly out of line, they're always very polite in a tough spot.

This line should tell you everything you need to know about the place
"I have been attacked in the Jackpot twice and the security has been top notch"
I mean, once is unfortunate but twice!!

The euro thing? If you don't like the rake structure GTFO and don't go back, don't through a hissy fit, just tell 'em to GFY and leave.

In general casinos in Dublin need to get there act together as most are kips, and the cash game thing starting at 11-12 at night is lol, but this isn't Vegas! IMO Voodoo are upping the ante but providing a much nicer playing environment that may suit your needs a little better.

I think it is ridicolous to ask a table for a euro per hand, because the rake is too small... Over the night im sure the rake would have been made up. If anyone asked me to do that I would have told them to F**k off..

    Sorry but that is ridicolous...

we didnt pay a euro per hand,we were asked for a on off euro each,to bring up the rake.

The security in the jackpot in my experience are pretty excellent, marius and two others threw me out one night where I fought pretty much tooth and nail refusing to leave the building to the point that I managed to jam myself in the doorway, they managed to get me outside without doing any damage which is pretty impressive.

The problem with the jackpot is the management, Im sure everyone who has been there semi regularly knows the woman the op is talking about. I dont know or care what really happened but her abusing a customer is pretty much par for the course. The security just throw out who there told to.

We've had a request from The Jackpot to lock this thread while they investigate. They will reply on this thread after the weekend. I think its the best course of action

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Unlocked to allow the Jackpot to reply.

Could people please wait until they have replied before posting in this topic.

    Thanks,

    Edit,,,
Sorry I misread the op and thought that it was a Euro per hand for a couple of hands...instead of a once off payment....

    apologies

    Dear All

In response to the post please note the following:

The request made by the dealer on Friday evening is totally against company policy and unacceptable. At no stage should a dealer ever make a request such as this from players in the club. Just because a game may be slow or hands are playing out to small pots is no excuse for a dealer to request monies from players. This situation has been dealt with internally and there will not be a reoccurrence of this in the club again.

Regarding the security, our policy is as follows. We hire professional security personnel to look after the welfare of both staff and customers. Clubs on the weekend can sometimes become somewhat boisterous late on and from our experience in the past we find that once we notice members raising their voices to fellow players or dealers or there is a possible situation about to arise it is best to address the situation immediately either by management or security. At no time should a player feel intimidated and if on this occasion this occurred we apologise as it is never the intention.

We would like to thank the moderators for temporarily locking the thread so we could ensure that we knew all the facts so we could respond accordingly.

Lastly as a gesture of goodwill to all our members, this coming Friday there will be no rake up to 2.30am.

    Kind regards

    The Jackpot

Well done to the jackpot for not 'passing the book' on this one. So many times i have seen poker rooms make dubious decisions with stuff like this and it was easier for them to blame an overly inebriated individual......... Jack, i hope you will be the first one through the door on friday..... bring Damo with you for protection!

You didnt seem to address what went on with regard to whoever was behind the desk and the dealer themselves making a number of inappropriate comments to the OP, what exactly happened with that? Are they to be continued to allow to harrass customers?

If you want to start some sort of witch hunt to get people fired then please do it elsewhere. The Jackpot have said that will be dealt with internally and that is perfectly acceptable to me. We don't need people to be tarred and feathered here.

I was just wondering if the dealer had collect too much money was she willing to refund it to the players? Some how I doubt it. I also think this thread proves that a clear and define rake policy is important and I would far perfer to see a rake per seat instead of dealers raking pots.

Its a very decent gesture by the Jackpot, I have only played there once and didn't like the place but they seem to offer good value, so fair play to them.

I can see a thread like this been created every Monday if you're going to give free rake. All sorts of excuse will be found to create negative threads against the JP.

Finally I don't understand why this thread was lock. I'm 100% against locking threads unless there damaging someones integrity or not been constructive threads. Lately threads seem to be closed far to easy on this forum. I know I'll get the comment to take this to the feedback, but I think this is a example of a thread been closed and only been re-open if the jackpot was kind enough to answer the questions. The poker players were the innocent party here, but the mods decided to protect the JP. If players want to comment on the event or night in question they should have been allowed to in this thread. There is no reason for it been closed unless it was due to the trolling which is why we have mods.

Finally I know the mods make 99.9% correct decision but this is something that as bug the **** out me lately.

It was only locked because the Jackpot asked for time to investigate the situation. Had they blindly ignored the thread and continued posting away about their tournaments etc. then our stance would have been completely different and it wouldn't have been locked (so early). We have and do give the same courtesy to anyone who has a thread of this nature posted up about them and requests time, be they promoters or players. I'm sure if someone posts up a thread about you or a friend of yours you'd appreciate being given time to respond fully instead of having to go arguing your corner without the full details.

To repeat, this the only fair way these threads can work (for both sides) instead of having threads go careening off tracks (as threads like these usually do), this way the OP is able to get a full reply without the original intent of the thread being sidetracked, and the side that a complaint has been made against has an opportunity to reply fully.

Now that they've responded, it's the perfect time for people to comment in full knowledge and can therefore make an informed decision as to whether or not they think the situation has been dealt with appropriately. If people think it hasn't been dealt with properly, then now is the time to say so and to say why they think as such.

How we deal with these kinds of situations isn't going to change anytime soon.

Looks like the JP took the time to do an internal investigation and acted appropriately, fair play. I do think making it rake free is a nice idea etc but it's very PR. If they think they did act inappropriately perhaps the young chappie should be the benefactor rather than other poker players, which will probably include the obnoxious guy who was at the table.

It's good to see them take it on the chin though, a sign of a savvy club.

    pleasantly suprised

The jackpot seem to have done a good job this time in fairness
but all too often dealers there are very rude.

Does not help that on weekends the clientele can be a mixed rabble of drunks
students with the case fifty, degens, beggars i think sometimes the punters drag the dealers down to there own levels.

In saying that the games can be great and the relaxed atmosphere and craic good at times but the sandwiches whic are the same width as a envelope are poor.

You mean not going to change again.

When I recently complained with the running of an EOM tournament in a well known Dublin club(who I believe may have since taken the necassary action to rectify the situation) my posts were removed without explanation & yet none of my posts were in any way abusive.

Don't bother mentioning the feedback section, I'm aware it exists.

I think this situation was very well handled. All we need now is some consistency.

If you could also reduce my 3month ban it'd be appreciated as it was the same dealer who raked me aswell. Ty

1: I played in the Jackpot for several years and have witnessed rows, fights and bad calls. After the Merrion closed this is where i played. I always felt comfortable in the place because the staff were welcoming and friendly. If parking was better i would probably still play there.

B: The staff are excellent considering some of the **** they have to put up with from customers. The security are always very polite and extremely professional, they do an amazing job considering the location of the club, the crowd it attracts on the weekends and i have never seen them act in an unprofessional manner.

5: Some (one) of the dealers is too friendly with the regulars and this not only slows down the game but can be very annoying for non regs.

e: The method of taking cash from pots for rake and cash league is a little unclear and could be misinterpretted.

finally: Bring back Duke, he was the nuts (and value :D)

finally: Olly said finally twice so i am too. ;)

I've always liked the Jackpot, sure it's a bit of a shed but i've always enjoyed the banter and the cash games on weekends might be messy and annoying, but they also have such sick sick value.

All the staff do a good job there, including the security. I've seen plenty of rows, but thats more to do with location then how the staff conduct themselves.
