Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ASUS Wireless - Help

    Hi

I have an Italian student staying with me and he has an ASUS laptop. The wireless will not switch on and the hotkey does not work (Fn and F2).
It's OS is Windows Vista. He cannot connect to the net and he does not have original disk. I have googled this problem and a few people have had it, however they suggest a reinstall or to get the correct drivers. However I am not sure how to get the drivers.
Any ideas if this can be sorted without him connecting to the net...

    Thanks in advance.

    What model of ASUS?

Drivers can be got from here:

    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
    http://asus-drivers.blogspot.com/
    http://www.wireless-driver.com/wifi/asus.htm

    Still not connected?
Run a virus scan by the way.
Has he got a firewall? Can he try disabling it and try again?
Have a look at the graph below and see how you get on.

You might also have to go into the Registry setting but we will cross that bridge if necessary.
(NOTE: ONLY enter the Registry if you know what your doing!)

    Hi, thanks for reply

I'll try tomorrow. He's retired for the evening. I guess I download files and put on CD and then run them on his computer.

Right click on the pic above and save it to something for future reference too.

    Its a X50SRseries

The drivers didn't work and I'm not going into his registry as I would not be that confident.

He said it worked back home in Italy.

Tried the firewall as well but did not work. Is there anywere you can configure hotkeys or switch them on somewhere else.

Asus wireless can be disabled from within the bios. This includes Hot Key functions.

It might be worth checking the status of the wireless in the bios.

Pressing 'Del' on the Asus keyboard when the laptop is starting up, from being powered off, will quite probably get you into the bios. There you can assess if the wireless is on or off by default.

It worked in Italy and does not work here?

    Hardware failure-
It was dropped in transit and the wireless circuit packed up hence no status light.

    Software-
Network settings need to be re-configured

    Drivers?
    Registry?
    Why?
