Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    out of ours? souness.

of all the ones on television. easily Gabriele Marcotti on UTV Champions League Highlights.

and i promise, that was before i knew of his sympathy towards rafa last week.

very knowledgable and level headed in all his analysis.

also, it's great to listen to someone who knows the european game, in particular, the italian league.

    Graham Hunter.

    Ken Doherty;)

Best has to be Eamonn Dunphy for the entertainment value involved. He talks a lot of crap, but he makes you tune in or wait for the analysis.

Worst is probably Jamie Redknapp who isn't in the poll, and of course Whelan. But above all I really hate Tony Cascarino when TV3 cover games. Terrible.

I actually like Kenny Cunningham a lot when he pundits on RTE. Very knowledgable, well spoken and his views are usually bang on.

Does he be on TV? I've only seen him on the phone to SSN when they're covering Spanish transfers or whatever.

Can't stand Cunningham, all he ever does is sit on the fence.

Bill: "Will there be goals in this Kenny?"

Kenny: "Eh possibly there will be goals Bill, but possibly not."

He uses the word possibly like it's going out of fashion.

Yes was very impressed with Trevor Steven last night. Explains the game well

    James Richardson by miles.

    Agree re: Graham Hunter.

It's a terrible waste he's stuck on Revista.

His knowledge of Spanish football is unrivaled, even by Guillem Balague

All the ones mentioned are shíte, Souness is the best of that awful bunch.

Lee Dixon and Hansen are good IMO. I dislike almost all the others on the list.
    Souness is arrogant.

    Best out there, ever.

Memories of his show on C4 a few years back.

    sounness top notch imo

Sid Lowe for sure, even if I only ever see him being a pundit on biased Real Madrid shows.

Souness, and extra points for putting up with Xfactor panto anctics of Dumphy et al

When you are abroad watching an Irish game, what do you miss most?
    Eamo, obviously.

He may not be the best pundit, but he is the best.

Who did James Richardson play for. Maybe I should have specified well known

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭MR NINE

I voted for Lee Dixon, very good pundit, always offers an interesting insight on MOTD2. Souness is a close second IMO.

Shame on anyone who voted for Ronnie Whelan, joke of a pundit. I've lost all respect for the man for the pathetic way he attempts to criticize and insult Rafa Benitez every week on the premiership (and i mean literally every week).

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,692 ✭✭✭✭OPENROAD

Voted Keown, Dixon would be a very close second but for pure entertainment it has to be Dunphy, can't wait until Tuesday night hopefully they will be talking about Roy Keanes comments.

James Richardson by a country mile.

Ruud Gullit and Charlie Nicholas are fairly honest and provide good insight too.

90% on that list have agenda's, or talk comple sh*te with the old clichés thrown in.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Never thought of Richardson, hes outstanding.

Shocked Souness is winning this, seems like when hes on RTE hes only saying what he thinks Giles and Dunphy want to hear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,887 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Shouldn't Andy Gray be on this poll?? He is great on The Last Word

Hard to make a judgement as they are working within the confines of particular formats and with presenters who tend to either encourage or discorage "iconoclastic" outbursts. Lee Dixon is nicely calm and striaghtforward.

I liked Gordon Strachan when he was on World Cup/Euro Champs duty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,692 ✭✭✭✭OPENROAD

Who voted for Alan Shearer :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 641 ✭✭✭Dimitri

For me it has to be Sounness, very knowledgeable, reasonably articulate and isn't afraid of criticising people if your to listen to Redknapp you'd never think anyone had a bad game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,918 ✭✭✭✭orourkeda

No such thing exists. They all talk cliched bullsh*t.

    Andy Townsend for me

Sid Lowe, Gabriel Marcotti, James Richardson.

Also like Patrick Barclay on The Game sometimes.

    Richardson,Marcotti,Oliver Kay(On the game podcast)

Most pundits seem to come with an agenda and stick to it no matter what its front of their eyes.

    Eamo Dunphy... He's a hero

Ah c'mon, who really voted for Ronnie Whelan?

I don't mind Kenny but that's spot on. :D Can't stand his jumping eyebrows mind.

Voted Ronnie for RTE, for his knowledge of the game.
I really enjoy Stiles and Grumpy, but Souness' knowledge is lost out on cos of Eamo's constant barracking:rolleyes:
Voted Keown on the BBC. He's good to analyse imo

Has to be Dunphy. Not really up to date with the modern game. But for entertainment purposes he's miles ahead of everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

I chose Souness as he is the best out of that list though Dunphy is the most entertaining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

James Richardson is quality and very knowledgeable. Was excellent when he covered Italian soccer on Channel 4.
Dunphy might be entertaining but he knows a hell of a lot less than he thinks he does.

I think Sounness heart problems means he has to be a bit more restrained when dealing with Dunphy and Giles. Dunphy pushes his luck sometimes.
Would be great if we could get Roy Keane on as a pundit.
"What are you laughing at Bill?"

Souness from the list. James Richardson is great too. Is he on tv anymore after Setanta going tits up?
