Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey,

    I recently got a Canon Rebel XS (1000D) but am looking to add one or two items to it.

    I'd like to use it for photographing wilflife and landscapes primarily so I would be interested in hearing any reccomendations for tripods and lenses that would suit. I'd be carrying it around while hillwalking so the tripod would need to be pretty lightweight.

    What's your budget?

    A good lens would be the sigma 70-300 for wildlife if the budget is tight!

    As for tripods, sliks seem to get the best bang for your euro award.

    I have the 500dx and its a fantastic tripod for spotting scopes, very stable :D

    +1! Get the APO version. Always good to have a long lens for wildlife...

    Short term a monopod would be useful for the wildlife and a bit lighter to carry. If you buy an expensive camera you should eventually buy a really good tripod, but a good zoom as recommended would be more a must for wildlife at this stage.

    Plus is does macro @ the 200-300mm, you can pick one up at boards for about 90-130.
