To kinda tie into this, there's some new Apple shop place opening this Friday on Patrick Street in Cork. As an opening special, there's 11% off everything.

Don't know what the original prices are going to be though.

11% is very good - considering approved education discounts are between 6% and 10%.

If I recall correctly there was a massive €11 off the iPod Nano, about €20 off other iPods and €50 off MacBooks.

It's a reduction of 101 dollars for the yanks so that should give you an idea of what to expect. I'd be surprised if the iPods were reduced by more than 20 - 30 euro for the top end iPod.

dam, I was hoping the discount would be roughly 100€, have to wait and see I guess.

    Saturday it is then.

TBH I only heard the ad in passing, and thought it was Friday they said.
Wasn't too far out though! :o

How do I claim the 2% back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭gleep

You need to sign up to bethrifty and click through the link to apple store. When you make your purchase, you will earn 2% commission on whatever you spend. This will be paid to you by bethrifty.ie after a period of approx. 30 days (to ensure you don't return the product).

They are actually not that cheap in the States at the mo. A mate is an air hostess and she priced them in Orlando for me last week. An iPod Touch 32GB was $299 which comes out to €200. Amazon have them for £205 with free delivery which is €225. You'll get an 11% discount buying from the US, not really worth it imo.

Apple seem to have an uncanny knack of fixing their prices closely regardless of the tax regime they operate within.

Had a look at this also as was going to buy one next weekend in Argos in Sprucefield(North). Just checked Argos UK and it is £149, which is about €164, only a few euro cheaper. You can say petrol and all that, but I am going up anyway for the weekend.

Orlaith - I have tried this and I can't get it for €128 - how do you get it like that?

    I am getting -

    Basket Subtotal - €138.28
    Free Shipping - €0.00
    VAT - €17.28
    Order Total - €168.01

    Total Savings - €17.28

Sorry just read your post again, you are looking at the I-pod Nano (8Gb), I was looking at the I-pod touch (8gb)

Did you go through the link in the first post?

I did just there, and I'm getting it for €128.

For Corkies, don't forget CompuB are opening in town tomorrow at 11am, and they're giving 11% off everything (except iPhones) tomorrow as an opening special.

I suppose to see how much you'll save, you could ring they're Limerick shop on 1850-668888 to get their price on whatever you're interested in, and take 11% off it.

Hi Basquille I tried Amazon and it turns out to be €128.94 when you reach the check out...even with free delivery. Its just the same as the Apple store only really only with the apple store I got free engraving. Plus going through betrifty.com I got a further 2% back (not much but at least something I suppose)

With Amazon the prices fluctuate and differenct prices for different colours, apart from that, generally cheaper than Apple's own site.

The benefit of Apple Store is the free engraving.

Amazon - feckers. Didn't know that the vat rate changes at checkout:mad:

edit - the model im looking for comes in at £113.14 which is about €124.40. I'm getting it as an x-mas present so it prob go with apple.

Dollar rate is good but 11% off with no problems in customs is tempting. Most of the discounts being offerred in US are mail in rebates which sounds like a bum deal to me unless you live there

advice please. demeted looking up black friday offers
