Pain of Salvation do the best lyrics I've ever heard, this could easily be a poem

I love The Perfect Element lyrics.

I got chills listening to the second verse.

    "Stealing meaning from this child
    We took away his reason
His soul put under lock and key
    His heart blackened from treason
But if you take from those you fear
    Everything they value
You have bred the perfect beast
    Drained enough to kill you"

    Dream Theater - Metropolis
    The smile of dawn
    Arrived early May
She carried a gift from her
    home
    The night shed a tear
    To tell her of fear
    And of sorrow and pain
    She'll never outgrow

Death is the first dance, eternal

    There's no more freedom
The both of you will be
    confined to this mind

I was told there's miracle for
    each day that I try
    I was told there's a new love
that's born for each one that
    has died
I was told there'd be no one to
call on when I feel alone and
    afraid
I was told if you dream of the
    next world
    You'll find yourself swimming
    in a lake of fire

    As a child, I thought I could
    live without pain without
    sorrow
    As a man I've found it's all
    caught up with me
I'm asleep yet I'm so afraid

Somewhere like a scene from a
    memory
    There's a picture worth a
    thousand words
    Eluding stares from faces
    before me
It hides away and will never be
    heard of again

Deceit is the second without end

The city's cold blood teaches us
    to survive
Just keep my heart in your eyes
    and we'll stay alive

    The third arrives...

    Before the leaves have fallen
    Before we lock the doors
There must be the third and
    last dance
    This one will last forever
    Metropolis watches and
    thoughtfully smiles
She's taken you to your home

    It can only take place
    When the struggle between
    our children has ended
    Now the Miracle and the
    Sleeper know that the third
    is love

Love is the Dance of Eternity

Not a song but a direct quote from Mr. Benton that I will always remember was how he didn't like flying because it brought him closer to Heaven

My favourite line from that is just the line "Behind those eyes a world explodes"

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I think Daniel Gildenlow should be studied as a poet.

I had intended for people to have a bit of a chat about the lyrics they post and others. What do you like about them etc.

Another song I love the lyrics to is Dream Theatre's A Change of Seasons, one of my all time favourite songs.

I notice a pattern in that I tend to like anything to do with the passing of time and looknig back etc. They just evoke emotions in me. If you read these (It's a long song just to warn you :P) and my first post "Time" you'll see what I mean about similarities.
    I remember a time
    My frail, virgin mind
    watched the crimson sunrise
    Imagined what it might find
    Life was filled with wonder
I felt the warm wind blow
    I must explore the boundaries
Transcend the depth of winter's snow
    Innocence caressing me
I never felt so young before
There was so much life in me
Still I longed to search for more
But those days are gone now
Changed like a leaf on a tree
    Blown away forever
    into the cool autumn breeze
    The snow has now fallen
and my sun's not so bright
    I struggle to hold on
with the last of my might
    In my den of inequity
    viciousness and subtlety
    struggle to ease the pain
    struggle to find the sane
    Ignorance surrounding me
I've never been so filled with fear
All my life's been drained from me
    The end is drawing near....

    'Carpe diem, seize the day'
    I'll always remember
    The chill of November
    The news of the fall
    The sounds in the hall
The clock on the wall ticking away
    'Seize the Day'
    I heard him say
Life will not always be this way
    Look around
    Hear the sounds
Cherish your life while you're still around

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
    Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
    Tomorrow will be dying."

We can learn from the past
    But those days are gone
We can hope for the future
But there may not be one
The words stuck in my mind
    alive from what I've learned
I have to seize the day
    To home I returned
    Preparing for her flight
I held with all my might
    Fearing my deepest fright
    She walked into the night
She turned for one last look
She looked me in the eye
    I said, 'I Love You...Good-bye'

"It's the most awful thing you'll
    ever hear."
    "If you're lying to me..."
    "Oh, you dearly love her."
"...just have to leave... all our lives."
    "Seize the day!"
    "Something happened.
"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may."
    "She was killed."

So far or so it seems
All is lost with nothing fulfilled
Off the pages and a T.V. screen
    Another world where nothing's true
    Tripping through the life fantastic
Lose a step and never get up
Left alone with a cold blank stare
    I feel like giving up
I was blinded by a paradise
    Utopia high in the sky
A dream that only drowned me
    Deep in sorrow, wondering why
Oh come let us adore him
    Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what, don't let him be
    Let's feed upon his misery
Then string him up for all the world to see
I'm sick of all you hypocrites
    holding me at bay
And I don't need your sympathy
to get me through the day
Seasons change and so can I
Hold on boy, No time to cry
Untie these strings, I'm climbing down
I won't let them push me away
Oh come let us adore him
    Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what, don't let him be
    Let's feed upon his misery
Now it's time for them to deal with me

    I'm much wiser now
    A lifetime of memories
    run through my head
    They taught me how
for better or worse, alive or dead
I realize there's no turning back
Life goes on the offbeaten track
I sit down with my son
Set to see the Crimson Sunset
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
Many years have come and gone
I've lived my life, but now must move on
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
    He is my only one
Now that my time has come
Now that my life is done
    We look into the sun
'Seize the day and don't you cry,
Now it's time to say good-bye
    Even though I'll be gone,
I will live on, live on.'

    [sarcasm] Any Cannibal Corpse song!
    So poetic.
    Swollen with liquid
    Ready to burst
    A load of my lymph
Will quench this dead body's thirst
    One month in the grave
    twisted and half decayed
    She turned a putrid yellow
I pissed in her maggot filled asshole

    ****ing the rotting
    My semen is bleeding
    The smell of decay
    Seeps from her genital cavity

The smell was unbearable As I unburied her
I cum blood from my erection
    I feel it run
    down her throat, swallow

    Eyes glassy and vacant
body dug up to play with
    Skin greasy and naked
    tounguing her rotted anus

    I need a live woman
    to fill with my fluid
A delicate girl, to mutilate, **** and kill
    her body exceptional
    she thought I was normal
    but I wanted more

I came blood inside of her
    chocking on the clot
    gagging on the snot
    gushing blood, from her mouth
    bloody gel leaking out
Body buried in a shallow grave
    Unmarked for none to find
The sickness I have left behind
    Undetected go my crimes
The greatest thrill of my life

    Violent, climax Serging serum
    on my skin

    Back from the dead
    I am resurrected
    to spew, putrefaction

    How lovely

They put me in an institution said it was the only solution

"To protect me from the enemy, myself." Suicidal Tendencies.

Have not heard that in a long time. Great song.

    How lovely
    Such raw emotion.

Though I do actually love Corpse.

One of my fav songs at the mo, with Lyrics that stick in my head is "The Arbiter" by Misery Index

    A couple grains of powder,
    A couple grams of lead.
    A touch against the trigger,
    A touch inside the head.
    Take another drink, and
    Raise the last bets.
    Think about my last words,
They might be what I just said.

Its been years since i listened to Pantera. Absolutely brilliant. My favourite from Pantera would be Hollow from Vulgar Display.

    What's left inside him?
    Don't he remember us?
    Can't he believe me?
    We seemed like brothers
    Talked for hours last month
    About what we wanna be
I sit now with his hand in mine
But I know he can't feel...

    No one knows
    What's done is done
It's as if he were dead

    I'm close with his mother
    And she cries endlessly
    Lord how we miss him
    At least what's remembered
It's so important to make best friends in life
But it's hard when my friend sits with blank expression

    No one knows
    What's done is done
It's as if he were dead

He as hollow as I alone now x4

He as hollow as I alone
    A shell of my friend
    Just flesh and bone
    There's no soul
    He sees no love
I shake my fists at skies above
    Mad at God...Mad...

He as hollow as I converse
I wish he'd waken from this curse
Hear my words before it's through
I want to come in after you
    My best friend x2
    Come back!

He as hollow as I alone...

" all men play on ten. Never gonna turn down again!" - Manowar.

    Nuff said.
