Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

DSFA Reduction on tax credit certificate

My tax credit certificate has a section in "standard rate band reduced by"
DSFA Jobseekers Benefit. I have rang revenue and they cannot explain to me what this reduction is for.

My wife was claiming jobseekers benefit until June. She had worked for years before claiming this for one year. She has never received jobseekers assistance.

Is there somewhere that explains this tax deduction? Thanks for any information you have

Did ye receive any taxable benefits?

The only benefit we received was jobseekers benefit. I believe my wife falls into the
"Have 26 weeks PRSI paid in the relevant tax year and 26 weeks PRSI paid in the tax year immediately before the relevant tax year." category. But if she didn't would this explain the standard rate reduction?

Is it a bit odd that there is no information online about this and when you ring up you get a "computer says no" without any explanation?

    Hi

    Job seekers benefit is taxable.

However if you are getting JB because your normal working week has been reduced it is not taxable.

This tax is usually recovered by reducing the standard rate band of the tax payer when he/she obtains employment. It is explained in the link that you posted.

    Kind Regards
