I have two laptops in the house

One uses wireless g the other wireless b

My router supports b and g

    I have a 3mb broadband link

using speedtest.net both come in at just under the 3mb mark

Just wondering why the b laptop doesnt come out as slower, using speedtest.net

b is max 54Mbps, g is max 108 Mbps, both way higher than the BB connection speed
[edit: oops, I stand corrected by the next post...]

    802.11B is 11mbps (5mbps max actual throughput).
802.11G is 54mbps (24mbps max actual throughput), although turbo G is rated at 108mbps or so.
So to answer your question, B wouldn't be slower since it has the available(and extra) throughput available.

As a matter of interest how are you handling your security? B only does WEP if I recall correctly.
