Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Advice on ensuring everything gets done?

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on ensuring everything gets done?

I have a full break down of everything that was agreed to be done by each and every conractor.

I then have a checklist and check off what has and has not been done and what the status is.

Additionally I have my own snag list of all the issues I see and want addressed, by the various contractors.

So I was wondering if anyone has any advice or methods of ensuring everything gets done. Obviously with-holding final payments until work is complete is the most effective method, but was wondering if anyone else had any advice on this matter.

As I am coming towards the end of my build and while all the larger jobs are complete there is an increasing list of smaller issues which I want to ensure get done. I have disucssed these with the contractors and while they have agreed to complete them, I've yet to see them even make a start on any of them.

Persistence . No short cuts .

You need to pull off a neat trick . You are not a b******x and you are also not a mug

If you give the impression that as far as your concerned - you have really paid all that you are prepared to pay - the guys will vanish , nothing will finish . Many many building disputes arise at precisely this time .

Be firm and insistent - and fair . Issue all their relevant items / lists indicating deadlines ( 2 weeks should be plenty if items are small )

I added a builders bonus (mostly from the final payment). Bonus to be paid if job is done on time and to the standard agreed with architect. If you pay everything, or just leave a little bit, before the job is finished you may run into problems. Above post is the most important. Don't pay until job fully done.

Don't pay until job fully done.
That sums it up but I would add "to your satisfaction".
