Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tis a pity that they are using the current €10 fare between drogheda/dundalk and dublin as a thank you, its been there for the last 3 month sat least. They could have given something better like promising next january they wont raise the prices of train fares substantially once you cross the dublin border. How is it fair that a student weekly from balbriggan to town is 20.20 and two stops up in laytown its 38.50? Not very and thats going to go up a rake load in january according to danny in the laytown station

Why don't we all say a big 'Thank You' back for their engineering prowess and from saving us from the bottom of the ocean.

Because if they actually had that engineering prowess the bridge would probably not have collapsed in the first place, it seems fairly clear that regular inspections/maintenance was not being carried out. Besides, it was contractors who repaired the bridge, not IE directly.

    He ain`t far wrong there,is Danny :)

Mind you the ill recessionary wind is blowing far and wide ....as it appears that Transport for London (TfL) have experienced the largest decline in Bus usage on record.
TfL "Sources" appear to be suggesting a 20% Increase in Bus Fares for the Londoners come 2010.... with the Standard Cash Fare going to £2.20 and commensurate increases in all other fares..ie: Oyster.

CIE still had responsibility over the contractors and made sure the work was completed on time. You have to give them some credit for that.

As far as I know, the prices for the annual tickets will not change in January. I clicked on a 2010 prices for the Taxsaver scheme recently and the ticket prices hadn't changed.

That said, why should we expect to pay more for a substandard service especially on the Northern where nearly every citybound weekday train has been 10 minutes late arriving in the city centre which is just a joke even allowing for the reduced speed limit over the Malahide estuary.

I think the Baker Tilly report demonstrates that the way in which IE interacts with contractors is definitely not worth any credit.

Nice to see Iarnrod Eireann are thanking the people who occasionally use the train with day return and family specials. Why aren't they rewarding the commuters who were inconvenienced every day and had to queue up on the M1 to get to work?Good work Iarnrod Eireann.. great way to keep your frequent customers happy!

Yeah they should build them two toll-free motorways, say the M9 from Kilcullen to Waterford and the planned M11/N11 from Sandyford to Wexford! :D

There are suggestions that there will be no fare increase in January.

Saw the new timetable for Northern line, which I think comes to effect next week - and almost every single train now takes 5 minutes longer to do Drogheda-Connolly, and Drogheda-Blackrock has gone up by approximately 14 minutes! Model development for rest of the world..!
