RTÉ "The Guitar" Starts this Friday on RTE2

Between 6.15 and 6.30 this friday, November 27th (between the simpsons and home and away on RTÈ2) is the first installment of RTÉ's latest talent competition- "The Guitar", in which 16 of the countries best young guitarists compete for the chance to win a Fender Rory Gallagher Signature Stratocaster.
The competition is set to showcase one guitarist every day on the show until December 18 afaik, with voting lines opening that day and closing December 22.

First up this friday is Shawn Mullen from Stradbally Co. Laois, a fantastic guitarist whose playing style is heavily influenced by the likes of Slash, Joe Perry, Zakk Wylde, Hendrix, Gallagher amongst many greats.

Just a quick update on this in case anybody is interested, Shawn, the contestant mentioned above, got a call from the Rté producer of this show today to say that the show has been brought forward by a day, so is actually starting tomorrow (26th) at 6.15, rather than friday as was originally planned

Up tomorrow night is Eoghan Johnson from County Down Northern Ireland.

He was only 14 at the time of filming and plays in his own band , Circadian , with his drummer/singer brother.
