Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I read this in Sundays Tribune and thought it might be of interest to some posters on here. I'll definitely be submitting an entry.
    The Sunday Tribune

    12th Annual Peter Ball Competition

Memorial essay contest for aspiring sports journalists

Peter Ball was soccer correspondent of The Sunday Tribune from 1988 to his death in November 1997. His innovative work in this newspaper and in The London Times, The Observer and in several award winning books set standards for sports writing that only the very best have emulated.
To commemerate this special man and his writing The Sunday Tribune and his partner Cecily O‘ Toole are delighted to announce the twelfth annual running of the Peter Ball Memorial Competition for Aspiring Sports Journalists. The winner will have their entry published and will get an oppurtunity to work in the sports department of the Sunday Tribune on a two-week placement.
The competition is open to all who aspire to a career in sports writing, and also includes those who are not attending a formal course in journalism. The competition is open to residents of Ireland and Britain. Entrants should follow a few simple rules. The articles should be:

    . Typed
. No longer than 850 words
    . On a sporting theme

Entries should be sent to the Peter Ball Memorial Competition, The Sunday Tribune, 27-32 Talbot St, Dublin 1, to arrive no later than 29 January 2010.

The competetion will be judged by a panel of journalists. The winners name and article will be published in The Sunday Tribune in February.

Previous Winners: 1999 Malachy Clerkin 2000 Colm Greaves 2001 Ewan McKenna
    2002 Barry Ryan 2003 Dermot Looney 2004 Barry O Donovan 2005 Jason O Brien
2006 Cathal Dennehy 2007 Peter Gunning 2008 Damien Irwin

Mods: Feel free to move this if you feel it's in the wrong forum but the reason I stuck it in here is because it's the most trafficked sports forum and has a healthy number of good posters.
