Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shutdown Problem

    Hi all

I recently set up another user account on my computer and after a few days deleted it and ever since my computer hangs when i try to shut it down, goes as far as Windown Is Shutting Down and won't go any further. Ran defrag, virus checks spyware checks registry checks etc etc and it's running grand, doesn't crash at all during normal use. I tried setting up a new user account to see if that'd fix it but it's still the same, have since deleted the new account and only have the admin account on it, can anyone help or do i just have to keep holding the power button to turn it off ?

    Running Xp by the way.

Ccleaner is your only man in this situation. I don't now the ins and outs but it's probably a registry entry that's causing the trouble. This used to happen to me a lot on XP.

    Install CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/

Run the reg-cleaner, save your old registry when prompted and hit "fix all problems".
sometimes it's beneficial to do this twice.

    hope it helps.

control panel - admin tools - events . Check to see any events that happen around the time of the shutdown. See if anything is stopping it from shutting down.

    Try running this(start- run ) shutdown -s -t 0

Use Ccleaner to clean up the old files on the computer regularly but never use the registry cleaner on it, it kinda worked but then again this evening it froze again when i tried to shut it down.

Had a look at the event viewer and there's no warnings or errors during shutdown so tried shutdown -s -t 0 and it shutdown no problem, rebooted and shut it down again no problem so hopefully it's fixed.

Thanks very much for your help and quick responses lads :)
