Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I reckon Moyes will play Hibbert for this match. He always steps up his game for these matches. Heitinga will probably play DM instead of Rodwell who needs a rest. Billy will start as he's one of the few rested players

How's Heitinga been playing for you's??

He's been solid without setting the world on fire. Could do a lot better imho.

Liverpool have been awful last few 2 months, but Everton have been a holocaust.

Therefore I think Liverpool will finally win. Probably 2-0

he was hugely overrated when he signed tbh, i think hes done about as well as he was going to. hes a known name, but thats about it. there werent exactly a huge amount of clubs queueing up to sign the chap

i like everton, but i think they paid for a name rather than a player

Heitinga is absolutely atrocious, I guarantee if Everton concede, he'll be the main reason why. Awful defender.

Although I do agree that the inferiority complex that you seem to have is completely justified, resorting to little digs like that is very definition of small time.

Sums up virtually every post of his that I have read.

Everton target Johnny Heitinga was the Eredivisie's footballer of the year before moving to the Vicente Calderón from Ajax last summer. Now he plays like he's downed a bottle of pre-match Malibu and strapped on some roller skates.
    :D

Regarding the match. I think we might scrape it.

Reina, Johnson, Carra, Agger, Insua, Kuyt, Gerrard, Masch, Lucas, Aurelio, and N'Gog was just mentioned on radio City as today's team..

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Distin, Baines, Pienaar, Heitinga, Fellaini, Cahill, Bilyaletdinov, Jo. Subs: Nash, Saha, Gosling, Yakubu, Neill, Coleman, Baxter

Liverpool XI to face Everton: Liverpool XI to face Everton: Reina, Johnson, Agger, Gerrard, Aurelio, Kuyt, Mascherano, Lucas, Insua, Carragher, Ngog. No Torres in the squad.

Best team everton have been able to put out in a long time. Shame about Jo though.

1242: BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Goodison Park: "Henry Winkler - 'The Fonz' - is a guest of honour at Goodison Park today for the Merseyside derby. He is playing Captain Hook in panto in Liverpool this Christmas. Will it be 'Happy Days' for David Moyes or Rafael Benitez? I'll get my coat."

    Reina,

    ---Mascherano, Lucas,
    Kuyt---Gerrard----Aurelio
    Ngog.

Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, Benayoun, Riera, El Zhar, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos

Two deep central midfielders, a left back on the left wing and Kuyt on the right. We struggle to break teams down at the best of times, but that is a very very defensive line up.

    why Aurelio instead of benni

is it to protect insua ?

A little bit of that I imagine, could be a fitness thing too.
And definately his quality with possesion maybe retain the ball a bit better while still being able to pick great passes.
    I dunno I'm hungover.

I reckon today will be a poor match considering both teams forms this season.
I reckon 2 nil Everton win or a 1-1 draw.

I wouldnt have started Jo ahead of Saha in a million years, nor Hibbert for Neill :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,732 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

    2-1 Everton.

    Peinaar, Saha (from the bench)

    Gerrard

So anyone think we'll see Aquilani today for more than just a minute? I certainly hope so

    2-0 Liverpool

I'd say a red card is a near certainty, esp if Insua can get behind Hibbert.

Not much chance of Insua getting behind anyone with the weight of the chap.

I've seen this "Insua weight" thing a few times on here, what the bejesus are people talking about? the guy regularly takes off his shirt after matches - he's built like a tank! He's certainly bulkier then he was when he was 17 (obviously everyone is going to be), but the kid is pure muscle! To the point where I think he's lost a bit of pace by doing too much weights.

exactly. I think it was a conscious decision to get much stronger as he's a fairly small guy and defensively he was definitely lacking in that area when he broke through. From the looks of things its not been balanced as well as it could have been, though plenty of time to build back up some pace.

Bam Mascherano! He's been due a goal the amount of shots he's been taking!
