I'm trying to find a BIOS update for my old desktop. I have found the original box and its a Jetway 939AGP (P/N J939AGP). When I checked the Jetway site there is a few 939AGP version so not too sure which one to try. To make matter worse I used everest and it gives me the details below which suggest its an Albatron board. Details are below.

The reason I'm doing this is I put up a cheap opteron 175 from adverts and I'd like to see if it works so want the latest BIOS. Will install the processor damage the board or processor if its not suitable?. Both are socket 939 and the board(Asus A8V Deluxe) it came out of seem to have similar componets.

    Any suggest would be appreciated
    Thanks

    This is... confusing...

Everest may be misidentifying your mobo. If you're running a Microsoft OS try Run > DXDiag. Check under System Model on the first page, it should give you the model number (not name) of the mobo which can be Googled for instant win. Or, if all fails, open up the machine and see what it says on the physical item!

There's a contradiction here. If the lower specs are your current board, then it's nothing like a Jetway, or even socket 939.

I thought as much everest may just be messing with me:D , I'm glad I'm not the only one confused. I'll take it apart later when I get a chance but try the DXDiag first.
    Cheers

Opened it up and it said 939AGP as expected. Dxdiag gives the info below
    System Manufacturer: VIAK8T
    System Model: AWRDACPI
On the box it says designed for AMD Athlon 64 754/939 Does it do both?

It's not impossible, but very unlikely. It's almost certainly socket 939 only.

If it is a albatron(754) mobo, you can get the drives here v1.07r which is the latest i could find.

    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/BIOS/Albatron/Albatron-K8M800-754-Bios-R107.shtml

My guess is that it is a socket 754 with a athlon 3000+

Have a look inside your pc again, around the cpu/ram area. If it looks like the below pic then its the above board and the bios will do ya:

    albatron_k8m800-754_01s.jpg

    And this is the NB:

    albatron_k8m800-754_02s.jpg

    albatron_k8m800-754_03s.jpg

And just a quick shot closer to the agp slot:

    albatron_k8m800-754_04s.jpg

Top down pic of the board:

I be fairly sure now its a Jetway 939AGP but not sure what rev it is the. On the site the have 939AGP-EC,939AGP-G-OC,939AGP-P-EC and 939AGP-P-OC. Might just take a change a try one of them.

Try using cpuz to see if it gives you anymore info.

and there is 100% nothing on the board at all, you might have to move a few cables to find the model number. and on the serial port there is usually a revision number or similar.

After finding no more details, I took a gamble and flashed one of the BIOS updates it worked. I was sweating when do it, but all seems fine. Now to see if my new opteron works unfortunately don't have it with me .
