Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

USB - Lost Files

    Hi all

I hope that I am in the correct area.

My USB stick has decided to wipe itself and I have lost my whole portfolio and many other important files. Obviously I am very concerned and worried.

I did not have a back up and now have lost everything. I was recommended to buy an external hard drive as they are not as tempermental as the USBs and did so today. Obviously I will be keeping a back up from now on.

I had some sort of "Retrieval programme" run by the IT department to try and save my files. I thought that this worked but when I looked through the files (mostly word docs) at home, they were all blank.

Has anybody any experience with saving USBs or advice on how I might get the files back? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

To be honest, you might not get these files back but you should at least try. When something similar happened to me, I bought a programme called Recover My Files (which worked perfectly), but that was for an internal hard-disk problem which I had. USB sticks/keys have very poor-quality disks that can only tolerate a certain number of 'write' events. You should never use them as the primary storage area for important files.

SEE HERE ww.pcinspector.de free download.IF a file is important you need to copy it to 2 or 3 hardrives. And copy it to a dvdr disk too.TRY putting the usb drive into another pc, theres programs designed to recover files from usb flash drives.
see here http://www.data-recovery-usb-drive.com/ or try GET DATA BACK prog from download.com.
See http://download.cnet.com/GetDataBack-Data-Recovery/3000-2094_4-10061631.html if it finds the relevant data, then buy the full program to carry out recovery process.
