So the gigs are - 'doors open at 6:30pm' 2 support acts and at least an hour and a half by Metallica.

Any idea what time it will all finish up at lads?

I'd say about 10.30 or before but by the time you get out......mightn't make an 11 bus.
Nah, I feel bad for those in Cork. At least Belfast gets some gigs.

Well least Cork has.............ok you're right.

if they are working to the same timing as the moscow shows its a start just after 9pm and 2 hours on the button, will not be taking it to chance will be there early on,
setlist they played below, 5 songs off death magnetic early on and then some classics, great trio of one, master and blackened in the middle, though i'd prefer thay dropped the new ones for more oldies - prob expect them to play whiskey in the jar

    That Was Just Your Life
    Cyanide
    Harvester Of Sorrow
    Creeping Death
    Kirk Solo #1
    The Day That Never Comes
    Sad But True
    My Apocalypse
    The Memory Remains
    The Unforgiven III
    No Remorse
    One
    Master Of Puppets
    Blackened
    Kirk Solo #2
    Nothing Else Matters
    Enter Sandman
    Encore Jam
    Blitzkrieg
    Whiplash
    Seek and Destroy

Will the gig have the central stage layout?

ye course, I can't wait, sometimes it's weird being at a gig and you don't really have a feel for how many people are there till you watch it back.

It's apparently very close to the odyssey.

    Provisional show times as follows:
    Doors Open 6.30pm
    High on Fire 7pm - 7.30pm
    Volbeat 7.45pm - 8.30pm
    Metallica 9pm

Just from this, the 12 bus home is definitely the earliest you could hope to make it to.

That's great news that Metallica aren't due to start until 9pm as it will be 5.30pm at the earliest that I will be able to get going from Dublin.

First time seeing Metallica play indoors since 1999 in the Point Depot.

So can we clasify these gigs as Irish shows or UK shows.

To me Marlay Park in Aug 2009 was the only Irish gig of the tour.

Many may disagree with me but its my opinion.

Gutted they always play outdoor in the Republic

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭dcr22B

PTH, to me it was an Irish show and it was f**king brilliant. It was my 11th time seeing Metallica and I've always preferred them indoors. My mate even got one of Hetfield's plectrums (B@st@rd!).

Does anyone know how many times Metallica have played in Ireland now? (Just trying to work out how many times I have seen them).

Heading for Belfast in a couple of hours.

Just over 2 h 10 minutes I think all in.

10/10 best performance I've ever seen from them at an indoor gig and this is my 11th time going to see them!

I just did not get into last night. I am not a fan of the central stage either. It was not as good as their last NI gig in the Antrim Forum.

class gig, my first time seeing them live, loved it, we were right at the railing, james was singing right infront of us. 10/10 for me, my mate got some great pics.

My song of the night was creeping death :)

They were awesome last night!!! great gig!!! I got some good pics and vids, but wont be able to get them up till the start of next week as I'm off to the back of the beyonds i Donegal till then!!!:D

They were really great last night, loved the stage set-up, still feel that it would have been a better gig in Dublin though, place was still so empty till near the end of Volbeat, I was at the barrier and there was no-one even behind me when high on fire were on which took from the atmosphere a bit. Also not impressed with high on fire not making use of the round stage, was looking at their backs the whole time, Volbeat were awesome though. Great set from Metallica all in all but like someone mentioned before I'm not a huge fan of them always finishing with seek and destroy.

Funny you should pick that song. That was one which I highlighted as a disappointment as it was played much faster than the album version :o

That was my 5th time to see them live, and the first time ive seen them indoors since the point in 99. Have seen them outdoors 3 times now and i dont think their outdoor gigs are half as good as their indoor ones. Was at the tuesday night gig, and was ****in happy out to see them play indoors again. Metallica are 100% an indoor band
