time lapse photography on sony a230?

Hi everyone,

i just bought one and i foolishly thought without checking that the software for the pc may include a control program for setting up a time lapse (like my brothers canon 1000d has) but i was disappointed to see it didnt.or maybe i just cant find it.

can anyone tell me if they know whether or not it is possible to take time lapse photography with this camera. i really liked doing that on my brothers DSLR and was looking forward to getting into that with my own camera.

As far as I understand it you can if you use a timer like the item below:

i dont think that works for the a230.there is nowhere to plug that in.unless it goes into the usb socket?

Is there not a 3.5mm socket, like you'd have on an MP3 player?

Hmnn it seems it doesn't. It has an odd connection. You need to browse eBay for a remote with a connector as in the image below:

it only has usb and HDMI for viewing photos on a tv.

i brought it back and changed it for the canon 1000d.much happier with that.plus now i can borrow my brothers lenses.and power supply.and remote switch
