We'll be doing some small tests on the 28th but the official programming is on 29th at 8am. Its a temp license issue that says we can't be on the airwaves before that.

At the moment myself and the other presenters are doing dry runs, basically we're doing practice shows which aren't aired so that when it does go live we are familiar with all the equipment and it sounds flawless.

I'm listening to it at the moment on 105.5FM!! Arguably it's better now than when the DJs are waffling. Just music, music and more music! :D

edit: I've been listening about 40 minutes and I've heard Feliz Navidad and Fairytale twice already! I suppose that's to expected since they're not officially broadcasting yet. Pity.

is it up? the music just might help motivate me, if i can remember how to tune a radio!

  • Posts: 7,320 Winston Fit Orate

So it's nearly back again. Anybody else remember the guy on St Stephen's Day last year welling up as he said goodbye? I can't remember his name but I think he was the programme director or something like that. Can't believe it's come round again so soon.

I've been listening to the sample stuff that's playing and there was not one instance of "Christmas Shoes"!!! Maybe they're not going to play this "classic" :D Anyway I'll be up at 8am on Tuesday to hear the start of it like last year. They never said "we're back!" or anything like that last year. You'd think they'd say "Hello again" or something. They just started as if they had been on all year!

Anybody else waiting eagerly for Tuesday?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,769 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I am, can't wait! I'll be setting my alarm to be up in time for the start!
I hope they thank all of us who are sacrificing a rare lie-in so they can get up and listen to it all begin! :D

Ronan, you really are spoiling us!!! :D

A test transmission on the 27th!!!! You little gem! :D:D:D

Sounding a lot clearer than the past couple of years - OMG!!! Perry Como - Happy Holidays indeeeeeeed!!!

Thanks guys, the tests are just to get the different transmitters in place and ready to go. Unfortunately the loop online is just a few songs, only two days to go!

Do you guys wanna see the studio? I'll upload a quick tour if you like?

Where did people get the idea there would be a test transmission today? I've checked the website, facebook and here and there's no suggestion of it.

South East is the Wicklow, Waterford area... Depending where you are you may be able to pick it up, give it a try tomorrow.

Other option is to get the iphone App which we'll announce soon :)

Sorry Winston Fit Orate, there was some test transmissions earlier in Dublin. Today we'll have tests everywhere, tomorrow (Tuesday) we are live. :)

Can anyone here put up a valid URL for an internet radio ? I have a Revo BLIK unit and was able to get a stream for Christmas FM in 2009. No joy last year or again this year.

I use the Frontier Silicon portal to add a station, but the one displayed when I play it in the browser doesn't work when specified for the Revo BLIK.

    Anyone ?

  • Company Representative Posts: 1,740 ✭✭✭TheCostumeShop.ie: Ronan

    Hi Guys,

Iphone app broke for a a while but is working again.

    URL for the internet radio:
    http://radio.securenetsystems.net/v4/index.cfm?stationCallSign=XMASFM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭TarfHead

    Thanks
That's the address used in browser pop-up, the one I had tried before posting. Is there an alternative, one in the form of an IP address & a port ID ?

Unfortunately it's just the URL, FM Dial if your within the broadcast area and the Itunes app (We're number 2 in the Irish Charts under the Free apps section :) ).

  • Posts: 7,320 Winston Fit Orate

I found it on the Frontier Silicon website. This is the url it points to:

    http://ice6.securenetsystems.net/XMASFM

I'm not sure if you've said you already tried this. I looked when you first posted and Christmas FM wasn't listed on Frontier Silicon so maybe this is new?

Hey you guys, have you heard of this track yet? Just saw it on youTube, i think your listeners would like it..

Lol, I'm actually worried that IMRO would get on to us for breach of the advertising rules if we played that given that we use the funds from our Christmas Jumpers to support the station and we sell a reindeer jumper :D

    rudolph_christmas_jumper.jpg

I can see this being a very pub sing along song. Hopefully they will submit to our song competition.

Frankie Valli's Ma must be a right gamey old bird, he's seen her kiss Santa Claus at least 20 times in the last 2 days !
    ;)

Just an aside, Ronan, there is a coral version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" being played and it's being credited to Bing & Frank but it doesn't sound like them - can you tell me who sings it? It's just amazing. :)
