Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I just got hold of my new 7D only a few hrs ago and the first:( thing I will have to do is read the manual as there are a lot of changes from my 40D, Only on receiving it I noticed the batteries from the old 20D & 40D's wont fit it. I am also looking for help as I failed to find in on Goggle, I cannot open my files (RAW) in P/Shop extended is there an easy explanation to this all help greatly appreciated

    Maybe this will help

    http://photo.net/canon-eos-digital-camera-forum/00V3e1

The Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in to Photoshop CS3 is not directly compatible with 7D raw files. The version of ACR that comes with CS4, if updated to the latest version, will handle these files. Also Canon's own DPP software will process the files. Another option is to use Adobe's free DNG converter to turn your 7D raws into the universal DNG raw format; your version of ACR will handle these DNGs without problem.

You can download the DNG converter here:

    Does the 7D shoot in CRW2.0 ?

"Only on receiving it I noticed the batteries from the old 20D & 40D's wont fit it"

^^^ Well that sucks, why the change of batteries ?

Higher capacity and/or more compact I'd imagine!

They are not genuine Canon batteries and cannot be charged with the original charger you got with the camera. You are better off buying original batteries. ;)

I thought the 7D will work just fine with genuine Canon batteries from the 20D/40D series?

I have to say the LP-E6 is a great battery, couldn't say how many shots because it's never run out.
