    BUS GIRLS BASKETS CATS KITTENS
    4 3 4 3
    Legs 2 0 4 4

    TOTAL BASKETS 12
    TOTAL CATS 48
    TOTAL KITTENS 144

    LEGS KITTEN 576
    LEGS CAT 192
    LEGS GIRL 8

    TOTAL_LEGS 776

There was no mention of a driver or the bus being in motion.

    I agree..

    4 girls X 2 legs = 8 legs

    4 girls X 3 baskets = 12 baskets

    12 baskets X 4 cat = 48 cats

    48 cats X 4 legs = 192 legs

    48 cats X 3 kittens each = 144 kittens

    144 kittens X 4 legs = 576 legs

    Total = 576+192+8 = 776

No mention of a driver or other passengers. Based on the information provided, the answer is indeed 776.

    or else 200

4 girls with three baskets each = 12 baskets

4 cats in each basket = 48 cats

although each cat has 3 kittens, this is a red herring, these kittens are not in the baskets, (as only 4 cats per basket.) these kittens may not be on the bus.

so 48 cats with 4 legs each = 192 legs
    + 4 girls with 2 legs each = 8 legs

    192+8=200 legs

    It doesn't matter if the kittens are in the baskets or not. It clearly states;
"Each cat has 3 little kittens."

Since there are 48 cats and each has 3 kittens, that makes 144 kittens.

It's true that it doesn't state if the kittens are actually on the bus or not, only that each cat has 3 kittens, but it must be accepted as a given due to the nature of the question.

    Can anyone get 222?

Only five kittens is a possible answer !

    Girls Leg = 8
    Cats legs = 192
    Bus Driver = 2
    Kittens (5)=20
    Total = 222

Assuming kittens not involved as never specified that kittens were in the baskets.

    4 cats * 12 baskets = 48 cats
    48 * 4 (legs) = 192 legs
    4 girls + 1 driver = 10 legs
    Total:202 legs

On a bus you sit down = 5 known seats.
Most seats have 4 legs = 20 legs

    202 + 20
    = 222 legs

    Stupid question, designed to trick

    Bus seat legs!!!
Normally 2 legs with other side welded to bus body and drivers seat is different.
If picture had been posted with puzzle 5 cats are visible in bus.
Why is this in 'humour' unless the the 5 visible cats are the bus depot mousers taking a day out.
maybe just the hint of a smile

    i got 796 too

    1 girl= 2 legs.

    1 basket = 4 cats = 16 legs

    Thus 3 baskets = 48 cats legs.

1 cat has 3 kittens = 12 kittens legs thus the 4 cats in one basket would have 48 kittens legs altogether.

3 baskets each girl would contain 48*3=144 kittens legs for all 3 baskets.

    So...........

    1 girl =2 legs

3 baskets 4 cats in each = 48 more legs

3 kittens per cat in all 3 baskets = 144 kittens legs.

    = 144+48+2 = 194*4= 796

the answer to this is much simpler than you might think, the trick is not to read too much into the Question because thats where the deception lies, the answer is of course,,, orange, because monkeys dont play chess at the swimming pool, they just walk on one.

A Bus does a leg each time it stops between destination points on its journey so assuming its an old bus there will only be a few legs left in it ... QED !!
