What does he need to say really? He had an unbelievable year and won a ring. Can't argue with that.

Nothing beats @RGIII on twitter, tweeting like a 12 year old girl:
An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.
If you are out there looking to the sky and wondering if the stars shine out for you....they do.

In fairness the off-season would be pretty boring without all this tweeting. So thank you twitter for providing us with this platform!

Torrey Smith, Daryl Smith, Steve Smith will be on the Ravens roster next year.

Now that isn't weird, wacky or awesome, I'm sure other other franchises have players with the same surname too.

So a quick discussion on jerseys.

According to ESPN until 2007 the established practice was a team in this situation had to add initials on the jersey so there would be a difference
    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/081017

For example Ray Lewis was R.Lewis 52 his whole NFL career

This was done away with in 2007. The reason? The Patriots signed Kyle Brady and Reebok would have to update their stock of Brady 12 jerseys. Now they could sell them off cheap and makes new sales of T.Brady 12 but that would bring accusations of greed. So the practice was done away with

And next year it will be just plain Smith if you wish to buy a Ravens jersey :)

A great coach can coach anybody or anything. Don't believe me? Then watch Jim Harbaugh do it here.....

Cam Newton having ankle surgery tomorrow which will rule him out for four months. No other QB has been sacked/hit more than him over the last three years (ESPN).

He wont be back till August and they have no WRs...their offense could be a disaster next season. This could be a major setback for a team that was showing such potential last year.

Their offensive line isn't looking too clever either and they don't pick until very late in the draft. Despite being an extremely deep draft, you'd be asking a lot to find the amount of players they need to plug in to start straight away and free agency has passed them by.

Couple that with the Buccaneers looking a lot stronger plus having a high draft pick and the Falcons surely won't be as bad as last year and it could well be a tough year for the Panthers.

Apparently he injured it in the Saints game towards the end of the season. Why are they only doing the surgery now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,370 ✭✭✭✭Son Of A Vidic

Why are they only doing the surgery now?

Usually surgery is delayed due to A) Inflammation or B) Infection or C) assessing the healing process (bone injuries). Without having the inside track, I would find it very unusual if either A or B were a reason for any delay this far our from his last game. More than likely it was C - just 'wait and see' policy. They were probably hoping the injury could be resolved without surgery.

Similar to young Dobson with the Pats, he fractured his foot near the end of the season and only had surgery last week. I can't criticise them for it because it makes total sense to wait. Sometimes with any fracture/bone injury, it can take 8-10 weeks before you can accurately assess the healing process and the likely of needing surgery to resolve the injury.

Funny that the Redskins as the only team that have a kicker that can't reach the opponents end zone with kick offs want to move them to the 40 yard line.

Draft the NFL's best secondary in Round 5. Pay your franchise QB <$1M/yr. Sign pass rushers to undervalued deals. #blueprint

It really is that easy :D

This part will definitely ring through if they get Allen on the low deal they offered him.

Brian Billick's contract isn't being renewed by Fox. I don't think he has any great interest in getting back into coaching but I'd like to see him back in the game at some point in the near future.

He'll probably end up on NFL Network though.

He always seemed to be one of the more knowledgable commentators, strange move. So many useless commentators out there yet he gets the chop.

Yet Heath Evans still has a job with Fox
