Very sad new, I'm sure he's in the thoughts and prayers of all football fans.

A former colleague of mine in London, who specialised in Haematology treating Acute Leukemia's. Ended up coming down with one of the most aggressive forms of Leukemia :(. She fought hard of for two years before losing her fight :(. In the same hospital a Nursing Sister on the Oncology ward, ended up with a malignant tumour on her face and had to undergo massive reconstruction surgery. The fact that she was absolutely beautiful looking, just seemed to make it all the more cruel and horrific :(. So ya, I fúcking hate that b@stard cancer .

    F***ing Jimmy Graham!

But is it confirmed yet though? Certainly doesn't look like there's any official word on it yet.

What next? Ban players from patting each other on the back or from high fiving?

Only allowed do this from now on. Failure to make your way to the bench quick enough will result in a 15 yard Delay of Game penalty.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti and director of PR Kevin Byrne confirmed a statue of Ray Lewis will be unveiled during the 2014 season

It's to go beside the Johnny Unitas statue outside the stadium.

It's nothing new for Baltimore, the Orioles next door have 7 statues afaik

Lewis already has a street named after him. Some say Ray Lewis Way is the most intense street in Baltimore

What say you? Is it bizarre to have a statue to a living person? The Packers have a statue to Lombardi but he had passed away by the time that was done

I can't vouch for it myself, but the below book gets a lot of good reviews if you're interested in further reading on the subject mate:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spygate-Untold-Story-Bryan-OLeary-ebook/dp/B008PYP83C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395787456&sr=8-1&keywords=spygate+the+untold+story

Less than €5 on a Kindle, or available for €8.99 on the iTunes store.

I have to admit I don't know anywhere near enough about Spygate so I'll probably purchase it as my next read.

I didn't have any interest in the NFL at the time, but for those of you that did, what was the reaction like when Spygate broke and during it? I'd imagine it was crazy.

Because he is the only coach who isn't in the NFL Coaches Association, so he wasn't at the event. Same reason he isn't in any of the Madden games.

Pretty sure he was at it. Think it's an NFL event and not a coaches association thing.

The NFL has banned the "dunk over goalpost" celebration & this will lead to a penalty next year. In other news smiling is also set to be banned!!

An entertaining work of fiction by Bryan O'Leary, but I don't know who reviewed it, possibly his family? O'Leary was even slated by Jets fans Stateside in the Jets Ganggreen forum. That will show you how bad the book was. Now here's his background, he was the President and owner of Premier Capital Management. And he was suspended and fined by the National Association of Security Dealers (Stock Market Regulators) for fraud, fraudulent advertising and illegal touting and promotion of stocks. His company, Premier Capital Management was also expelled from Nasdaq (Stock Market) dealing by the NASD.
Washington, DC—NASD Regulation, Inc., today announced that an NASD Regulation Hearing Panel expelled Premier Capital Management, Inc., Dallas, TX, for placing materially misleading advertisements in national publications to tout Continental Investment Corporation (OTCBB:CICGQ), failing to disclose compensation received from Continental, and other violations. The firm’s president and owner, Bryan James O’Leary, was suspended for 325 days and fined $62,500, while Ryan Mark Reynolds, a former registered representative, was suspended for 720 days and fined $155,000.
See full NASD investigation report here.......http://www.finra.org/Newsroom/NewsReleases/2000/P011418

So a Commodities broker, with absolute no professional writing experience and a chequered past writes a book that doesn't set the world alight. Still, I'm sure he didn't go hungry. And if any of you have money to spare and fancy a fling in the markets. You'll find him right here....

Jason LaConfora has all the news from the competition committee

    Extend goalposts - Approved

Move extra point attempts to 20yd line - trialled in week 1&2 of preseason

Extra players allowed on IR designation to return - Rejected, it remains at 1

Move kickoffs to the 40yd line - Rejected

Eliminate cutdown to 75 during training camp - Rejected

Expanding replay due to loose ball situations - Approved

6 extra cameras for the goallines and boundaries - to be studied and to be discussed with the networks

Expanding the playoffs - to be discussed with the union next month

Sportsmanship - Strong enforcement of existing rules next season

This is good but surely expand replay reviews further still?

I doubt they would expand the playoffs in 2014, they will have to work out a deal with the union

It's extra money for the owners and they seem keen for it but negotiations take time and I wouldn't think they could get it sorted for 2014.

I hope they don't expand, it's fine how it is

Bill Belicheck said 99.6% of extra points were succusful in 2013 so if the trial works I think it will introduced for 2014

The NFL will lose a huge amount of appeal if they increase the amount of teams in the play offs. That's why I can't get into the NBA as much until it's almost play off season.

Nba also has far too many teams and games to begin with.

As a fan of a team frequently on the bubble of the playoffs, an expanded playoffs would be great in theory, but we're on the bubble for the simple reason we aren't good enough. More playoffs will take from the excitement of the regular season, and devalues existing games.

i'd like to see purely so the Titans have a chance to get there,

so if you have 8 teams getting to the play offs, teams 1 and 2 still have an advantage as they would play the 2 teams with the poorest qualifying records and still have home field advantage.

    1 V 8
    2 V 7
    3 V 6
    4 V 5

Yeah, I hate this idea. Great thing about the NFL structure at the moment is the importance of each regular season game, and you have to be a good team to make the playoffs. They're diluting this structure for the sake of 2 extra playoff games. It's really short-sighted.

Titans went 13-3 in the AFC not long ago. A fan wanting expanded playoffs to get in today will be cursing the playoffs if their team has to play extra playoff games and then loses to the 8th seed

The system is fine and as said above if you're not in it's because you weren't good enough
