And will promptly sue the league when it happens.

I know I sound like an eejit saying this, but he is the only player I actually cheer to see get injured because he is such an unbelievable, irresponsible liability to everyone else out there. Possibly the best example of this was last year when he rammed helmet-to-helmet into Eddie Lacy, concussed him, and a handful of plays later did the exact same to James Starks, this time concussing himself. I'm not a huge fan of some of the ways they are taking the physicality out of the sport, but that sort of stuff needs to be clamped down on strongly - I would be quite happy to see the league reviewing tape and suspending players for repeated and intentional head to head collisions like Meriweather specialises in.

Shoplifting cologne and underwear, that is.

Would love to know what plans he'd made for later that night.

Marvin Jones gone to IR now for the Bengals with suspected broken foot. He has been very unfortunate with injuries. Really feel for these guys working back from one long injury only to suffer another.

I've never ever heard of a team awarding the game ball to the opposition.

Seems the Bucs official website are so unhappy with their display in Week 6 at home they awarded it to the Baltimore QB
We generally intend this award to go to a Buccaneer standout regardless of the final score. However, I’m leery of insulting anyone on the home team with faint praise; it’s not likely a Buccaneer would appreciate a game ball after Sunday’s contest. Thus, it goes to Baltimore QB Joe Flacco, who threw a team-record five touchdown passes, all of them before the game was 17 minutes old."

I know it's not the same as the coaches in the locker room but it's a bit strange

Jarryd Hayne quits Aussie rugby league to try and become an NFL player. Huge ask to make it at his age but athletically he's pretty special.

Will be interesting to see what position it is he's going to tryout for. Hard to know what his skillset would translate best to.

I'd imagine Haynes would be trying out for either MLB or SS. His tackling ability should transfer, although wearing pads makes it a lot different. He has very good speed off the mark and he can catch a ball too which is why I'm thinking linebacker or strong safety.

Edit: I just went and checked weight and height. He is 6'2" and according to wiki weighs 220 lbs which would put him right where you'd expect a person to be playing those two positions.

Examples: Kuechly is an inch taller and 18 lbs heavier, Earl Thomas is 6' and 210 lbs.

Kam Chancellor territory, maybe? Doubt he will make it but I could see a few teams with a rangy FS type looking for someone underneath giving him some try outs, etc.

All I've read has him looking to be a kick returner. Makes sense on its own but he won't be hired to do that alone. Be cool if he got on a squad though.

I was going to suggest RB. Learing the coverages and assignments on D is possibly more difficult. Obviously you would wonder how he would pick up blitzes and pass protection but he could be a good power back on obvious running downs.

Surely he'll be looking to be on offence as either a wide receiver or a running back as a compliment to his work as a return man. Yes he's a big guy with serious power but if you've watched him the past 5 years or so, it's his attacking skills that make him the player that he is now.

He is so good in the open field and he has so much pace that I actually think a Percy Harvin type role would be ideal for him where he can take short slants or wide receiver screens and run a few end arounds or trick plays too would be an ideal fit.

One little caveat which would be very interesting to see would be if he tried to offload after getting the ball! He is probably the best offloader of the ball (behind maybe Corey Parker) in the NRL and if he started doing that defences wouldn't know what was going on. I understand that it's probably bad etiquette to lateral the ball after going past the line of scrimmage, but if the other guys were clued in on offence and the way the defence swarms to the ball, it would cause havoc! Anyway I'm really looking to see how he gets on as he is the most exciting player in Rugby League and if anyone could make a successful transition it's him.

English comedian looks like Aaron Rodgers, gets to meet the whole team including the man himself.

Jesus that's a bit silly from Seattle...He's been quiet but he did have 3 TD's cancelled by penalties a few weeks ago and he's an awesome weapon to have for the end around with his speed.

Wow. Crazy move after losing Tate over the off season. I reckon there's more to this.

Apparently the line atm is that they didn't think he was a good fit with the team. FFS though the rest of their receivers are rubbish now...almost as bad a situation as Carolina...

Still though, a great pickup for the Jets presuming they didn't give up a very high pick. Rex could be saying bye bye if this doesn't work out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,091 ✭✭✭✭nerd69

Wow and for a conditional pick at that huge move

Goes to show what an idiotic trade it was in the first place, they got 8 games for a first round pick.

They get a lot of money off their books with this trade, I'm not sure how much of a signing bonus they gave him but that will be dead money now.

Probably a good move long term but leaves them in a bit of a hole for this season. Kearse, Lockette, Richardson, Baldwin. is that it? They'd best hope Lynch doesn't get injured.

He gotta be causing trouble in the locker room otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Apparently Seattle were quietly shopping him for weeks...couldn't imagine the jets giving up anything more than a 2nd
