Well he doesn't have much option in that. He's finished his degree this year so he's definitly coming out. also, there is actually a good few teams who are in serious contention who could pass on Luck which is a surprise given how good of a prospect he is.

Rams - Sam Bradford number 1# overall pick two years ago, would you they really give up on him now? considering what they could get for the number #1 position I doubt it so I think the Rams would pass on Luck.

Panthers - Cam Newton last years number pick who has started well, no way Panthers take Luck.

Colts - One of the GOATs as QB on their roster, if he's 100% healthy very tempting to trade down and go for a superbowl over the next 2 years. Tough choice.

Vikings - A lot will depend on how Ponder performs for the rest of the season but giving on a 1st round pick after a year would be pretty stupid. But they could draft Luck and trade Ponder.

Being a Fins fan, I probably have tunnel vision when it comes to this as Miami are still look searching for Marino's successor, but for me The Colts and Fins are by far the worst two teams in the league and I would be hugely surprised if they didn't end up picking in the top 2. Rams could possibly upset that and your right, if they get the 1st overall, I'd be surprised if they took Luck. Panthers and Vikings I'd be amazed if they pick in the top 3 (both play each other next week actually).

Looking at the Colts right now, can they really afford to pass on Luck, as Manning will be 36 when next season starts and is coming off a serious neck injury. I guess it will come down to the medical staff at the Colts and their analysis of his injury. Either way Bill Polian will make the right decision. But for me the Colts will never be in a better position to find Manning's successor and draft a player with the potential that Andrew Luck has.

Are you sure ? Im pretty sure hes still a draft elligible underclassman this year. Just becasue hes finished his degree doesnt mean he couldnt stay on and do a masters and play anothe ryear of college ball as he redshirted as a Freshman.

Now it aint gonna happen hes coming out this year absolutly. Unless they loSt the nC game or something and he felt he had unfinished business but thats probably as likely as me getting hit by lightening.

Yea he can stay on although not even sure if he could do a masters but with him being finished his degree it's nearly 0% likely.

The Colts now know more than anyone how important a franchise QB is, so I could actually see them pulling the trigger on Luck. Depends how much sway Manning has in the organisation, and if they're willing to stockpile picks from a trade to get him another ring in the next couple of years.

Rams wouldn't pick him, they'd probably trade down a couple of places and pick Matt Kalil/Jonathan Martin or Justin Blackmon (although I would LOVE if he went to Carolina), probably one of the former after the Brandon Lloyd trade and seeing what life is like with an injured Sam Bradford.

The teams in contention to pick Luck (those who could finish with 1st overall pick and those likely to trade up) are the Dolphins, Colts and Seahawks, with the Browns and Vikings in there at a stretch depending on the success of McCoy and Ponder. I wouldn't put it past Pete Carroll trading up, although I reckon he would be just as happy to pick Matt Barkley as a USC man and keep the extra picks it would cost to get up to 1.

The most interesting scenario would be Colts #1 pick and Dolphins #2 pick. If it's looking like the Colts won't pick him and will instead trade so they can supply Peyton with some weapons, then the Dolphins might still have to trade up anyway to stop someone else from doing it.

Wild scenario? Jerry Jones get's fed up with Tony Romo and trades up for Andrew Luck to be the face of America's Team. Epic! :pac:

Pretty sure Case Keenum is still eligible to play this year because hes now doing a masters. Of course the fact he got a 5th year exemptio due to injury aswell.

if he wasnt doing the masters I dont think he could play. Maybe Im wrong though, but I thoguth you had to actualyl be enrolled in class to play NCAA ball. So if you finish your degree early then your not eligible.

Im sure TO will clarify. Im not arsed readin th NCAA regulations :p:D

Good News: Lady GaGa has lost out on her bid to perform at the Superbowl half time show this year.

    Bad News: Madonna has won

How on earth have we gone from Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and The Who to Black Eyed Peas and now Madonna?

cant be worse than last year anyway. that was truly horrid.

As long as a student is enrolled in classes, whether undergrad or post grad, they are eligible to play in the NCAA. Look at Russel Wilson at Wisconsin he is doing a masters this year just so that he can play football. If you finish early you have the option of moving to another school to finish your term of elligability.

In relation to Luck he is definitely coming out and the Colts or Dolphins would be mad to bypass if they get the number 1. He will be worth a bounty in draft picks, I would actually agree with the assessment somewhat with that two years of picks but would change it to two firsts and seconds and a few mid rounds becuase Luck is coming out as the most hyped in years.

The trading of his rights could be very similar to Manning and the Giants-I think it was effectively flipping first rounders, giving a second, third and a next year pick.

Personally I think the Colts would take him in an instant. They have seen how tough life is without an elite QB and they could give Luck a couple of years to learn behind Manning (similar to Rodgers in GB) and then in 2014 or something when Manning is 39 put Luck into the starting line up. It could work out very similarly to the Niners with Montana and Young.

I've loved watching Luck for the last two and a half years and this year he is doing something very unusual at the college level:living up to the unprecedented hype surrounding him.

I don't know and haven't watched a thing about Luck.

Just a quick question: will he be as good as they're saying? I hype machine is enormous at this stage.

Im skeptical too...almost like the hype that surrounded Reggie Bush when he came out.

I remember the shock from the analysts when the Texans took Mario Williams over him

Do any of you know where I could watch Hard Knocks? I've watched all the Jets episodes, but because the others are quite old now in terms of TV it's hard to find them. I usually can get one or two from each series but it's annoying not being able to see them all.

    It's such a great show.

Impossible to say if he will be as good as they say but he certainly deserves the billing in some aspects. Manning was a bit before my time so not sure how big the hype was then but Luck is easily the biggest prosect in the last number of years, and majority say since Manning aswell. Calvin Johnson for me is the only player in recent time who comes anywhere close to the "can't miss prospect" that Luck is.

Watch USC - Stanford this weekend. Luck and Barkley in the one game, it's going to be huge. Far and away the 2 best NFL QB prospects in college. Luck is obviously number 1, but any other year and Barkley would be number 1 pick himself. Should be on ESPN this weekend, hard to imagine it not being.

Wow, TO attempted suicide earlier this month. 911 call has been released. Whatever chance he had of getting a team seems over now :(

My first reaction would be that it probably won't have much of an impact given there's been questions about that before and it didn't really register as much more than a blip. It'd be a PR nightmare for a team if it ended up coming across they nixed a opportunity for a player because of a suicide 'rumour', which is surely the spin TO's camp will put on it.

It will come down to a head coach that's strong enough to be willing to cut him if he's not behaving or performing. Both for the fact he's probably still a more than roster-able talent and for the colour he brings to the game I hope he finds a team.

Taking purely business side of football here. There's no chance a team will chance TO now, not many teams were not interested in him before anyway. He's clearly mentally unstable and not in the right frame of mind to play football.

Worst case scenario for a team is if he signed with some team and committed suicide while on the team, that would be a disaster.

From a personal standpoint, TO is in trouble and needs help. I've read a couple of stories from his childhood and they are not pretty so i only can imagine how that's affected him as an adult. All tru his football career his personality has been very erratic, which could have shown that he was maybe mentally unstable. I hope he can get some help and work tru his issues and he can come out of it stronger. Money, fame and talent mean nothing, if you don't love yourself.

    Best of luck TO.

    Only reading this now

He was on NFL Network and did a podcast with two of their analysts this week and was sounding his confident self.
But not overboard, he made lots of good points and I liked the cut of his gib

    This is all very sad.
Yes he had a lot of issues in his childhood but instead of being anxious and quiet seems he went completely the other way.
Come to think of it, Deion Sanders another extrovert had a suicide attempt also.
You never know what's going on behind the confident exterior.

He adds a lot to the NFL and has done some good acting [Neccesary Roughness over the summer], hope he gets the help he needs.

It's more common than you'd hope, just look at our own Darren Sutherland, who by all accounts was a confident boxer with a likely glittering career ahead of him.

The last thing TO would need is being shunned, but the fact ESPN have barely ran the story and NFL.com is quiet tells its own story.

    That's very sad about TO.

I've been watching some NFL clips, some Hard Knocks etc and whenever I've seen him I've almost always got a likeable impression off him. He has confidence and a swagger that you need some players in the league to have.

I see there's talk on ESPN.com of him ending up at the Bears.

Hopefully he gets another team and can take his mind off some of this stuff through his football.

Thinking about it, the idea that Jay Culter is one of the few QBs that won't be particularly effected by TO makes alot of sense, and it's hard for anyone to argue that Chicago's passing attack isn't anemic at this point. They probably need something extra if they're to stay in touch with the Lions for the wild-card spot.

Schefter squashed the TO - Bears rumours yesterday, said they just weren't in for him at all.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/10/28/pats-cut-leigh-bodden/

    Pats cut Bodden.

He wasn't playing well but its still a shock. He's the 3rd best CB on our team and his salary has already been guaranteed for the season (unless somebody takes him on waivers) so its not a salary move.

He must have pissed BB off somehow.

The more i look at it, it has to be a discipline issue. If it was based on performance he would have been cut monday week or at least this Monday.

    Corners left:
    1. McCourty (underachieving at the mo)
    2. Arrington (Reliable starter, nothing flashy)
    3. Dowling (still have to see him play, seems v injury prone)
    4. Molden (No idea, was only on the practise squad a couple of weeks ago)
    5. Adams (No idea, was only on the practise squad a couple of weeks ago)

Since Haynesworth is getting back to full health and we have 2x DLs coming off the PUP, it can mean only one thing...

...Vince Wilfork to play nickel corner

Chicago Rush of the Arena League offered Owens a place on the team. Bit of a climbdown but he would outclass anyone in the league.
