A long while back when I was applying for a passport, I needed my original birth cert. We could only find a photocopy, and so my mother rang the hospital where I was born. They said they had no record of me ever being born there, and could not issue me with a replacement.

In the end, we did find the original, but it's crap knowing that I absolutely can't lose it

It's almost time to renew my passport too...

As the title says, I've mislaid it somewhere......and that somewhere may have been on a Bus Éireann Bus 4 days ago.

I had it on me because I needed to apply for a passport, but I only noticed today that I don't have it anymore.

Does anyone know if Bus Éireann have a lost and found service? If not, does anyone know how to get it again? Should I also be worried if someone has ended up getting it and may use it for "false idenity" or something else?

And yes, I realise I am the biggest of big idiots for losing it and not noticing til now.:(

i climb back in my mammy and claim another 9 months free travel... with i coulddo that with the bus.

    Correct.

what sort of job requires a birth cert.

I thought most (all ?) of them these days (although driving licence/passport/mark-of-the-beast are usually acceptable alternatives)

Become a christian and get a new one.
Does doing so entitle one to another sixteen years of half price travel on public transport ?

I kept this thread going for my amusement.

I found my birth cert 20 mins after starting it. Note to all: Never put it under a book, as you'll never think to look under that book for ages.

    Beat me to it!

The BBC did a piece on it about 4/5 years ago. They actually got somebody a birth cert, passport, credit cards etc. in the name of one Frederick Forsythe!

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

quite easy to get a copy. Well it is in the uk . When i lost mine. Just rang the local authority for where i was born. Gave name, dob, parents name, hospital born in, cc number, had within week. Would assume similar procedure here.

Admit it OP you haven't lost your passport, you've found the headstone of a baby who died around the time you were born and are just looking for advice on how to get a false identity.

Your local health board has a copy, when my mother lost mine I went to the hospital where I was born and they told me to check the health clinic they had all my records on their computer and got me a new one.

I think they charged me 7 euro but what can you do.
