Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Liverpool have actually picked things up, a nice break from back to front was stopped by a deflection for a corner, some decent pressure since.

Well just take the standard of play from most of our games this season, and you pretty much have how it is today. The positive is that they can only improve on the first 40 or so minutes.

Senior players going missing as usual. Scary thing is that it is not a million miles from a full first team today.

Very little craft in this liverpool team, its laborious to watch us im afraid. No support from midfield. And if ryan babel has the game that riera is having so far he is 'murdered'.

Get Aqualani on at HT Rafa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

    Not missing much then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Very poor first half from Liverpool. Even though they were slightly better in the last five minutes I dont think they forced a single save. Noone is standing out as having a good game.

Doesn't seem promising judging by the posts so far. Perhaps bring on Aquilani for 30 mins or so as we are lacking any creativity.

Bet we lost this 1-0. Would be typical of us this season.:(

Think we'll see Ngog before we see Aquialni, unfortunately. And we won't see wither before the 70th minute at least, because theta was improving slightly before the whislte went.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

That's one of the reasons why i didn't want Di Santo playing,

    that was terrible from him

So its Kuyt right, Yossi left?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,656 ✭✭✭dannydiamond

Wow that was quick, very unRafa like substitution, unless Riera's injured?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Liverpool have been better in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Gerrard is doing all his best work from a deep position though, which effectively means we are playing with 3 central midfielders.

I would take Lucas off, put Gerrard in his place and bring on Aquilani to play off N'Gog.

I've seen it again, Nzonzi doesn't get the ball, minimal contact on Gerrard if any, certainly nowhere near enough to bring Gerrard down like he did,

    My conclusion,

    Dive.

Close by N'Gog. He has been really lively since he came on, and again shown the good form he is in this season.

El zhar back training this week,
Aquilani back training and involved in the first team a month or so.

I don't know how much longer I can defend this man.

El Zhar has made a lively impact.

What a miss by McCarthy - off.

El Zhar coming on. F*ck off Rafa

I think thats not a bad move
they are slow at the back and look tired
Johnsons runningat them strong and they cannot handle it so get a nippy winger on and see what happens

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

There must be something going on with Aquilani again not coming on.

or bring on your big signing to give Johnson more ammunition.

    f*cking joke.

    aquilani needs games.

El Zhar isn't particularly nippy though. and he's poor

    Agree 100%

Seems other players can come straight back from an injury with very little training and play straight away, yet Aquilani is declared fully fit since the first week of October and he cannot even get a short run out.

I don't expect him to get full games, but he sure as hell needs short run outs to get him ready to get full games.

It is almost like Rafa is scared to play him in case he does not hit the ground running.

hey im one of the lads who gets dogs abuse for questioning Rafa
not in the in rafa we trust brigade

Id like to see aquilani but......?
    Must be a reason!?

Today FM speculating a load of BS about Aquilani, "something sinister going on Ron" says Craig Burley

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

I dont understand why Aquilani is even on the bench. If hes not fit enough to play a part, fine - but dont include him in the squad then.

He made his debut 5 weeks ago and the only part he is played since then is his 10 second cameo.

kieth andrews on so blackburn going for the draw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Sorry but Aquilani has had a horrid history with injuries throughout his career, indeed has played an absurdly low number of games for his age. It makes no sense whatsoever, whatsoever, to bring him on now and potentially risk his injury. You gotta ease him into it irrespective of the position you are in, because otherwise he'll get injured and then you're ****ed for the season.

I think Rafa is doing the right then with Aquilani personally, having seen United rush Hargreaves back for games, even though is resulted in the double, it's hurt us long term.

Looks like it'll be another draw. C'mon Chelsea! :(

my issue isn't with aquilani not being on, it's with El Zhar for Yossi. An appalling substitution

The only reason i can see for having him on bench and not bringing him on is he wants to ease him in in games that are already won with 20 or so mins left
The way we are playing he could be on the bench for a while:(
