I'm upgrading a home server I built that has the worst, crappy, noisy PSU ever. Its a 500W no brand PSU and it's way to noisy for running 24/7. I was looking at the Corsair VX 550W PSU http://www.dabs4work.ie/products/corsair-memory-550w-vx-psu-4Q0T.html Anyone have one of these ?? I've read a few reviews and they all say it's a good quiet PSU. I need a good reliable one but I don't need huge wattage as the server has no graphics card and only one hard drive for the moment but I may add one or two more into it in the future.

Have that exact psu in my gaming pc. It's a great PSU, very quiet and I've never had any problems with it.

You should probably just save yourself some money and get a corsair cx400 though.

You won't need any more wattage

The only thing you should look out for is, if you have quite a few hard-drives that there are enough connectors on the psu

Definitely. My 550w powers a q6600, 2 HDDs, and an overclocked 4870. Probably still has loads of juice left in it.

You could run xfire 4870's off a good 550watt!

It would deffo push the psu though...

    You can actually run a i7 with 8gigs of ram, 6 hdds and 2 5870's on a 500w psu :D

Its not just about the wattage remember, its about the rails and how many amps are supplied and peak/effeciency.
