Do snails and slugs hibernate? I can't see them anywhere in my garden. There was huge armies of them up to a couple of months ago and they seem to have all disappeared. Can finally plant out some lettuce at last - if the frost doesn't get it

    To hell!!!....if I had my way :P

They burrow down or hide under old wood, rocks etc and hibernate.

You could put halved plastic bottles over your lettuce when it's starting off to stop slugs nibbling it, though no point really at this stage of the year.

Nah, no need for protection against the slugs at the moment. And there hasn't been too much frost in dublin yet either.
