Firmware Upgrades - Skipping past network block

Anybody have a reliable and good guide that covers how to update Nokia firmware - skipping past the network block? New firmware for E71 but locked into the older version atm and I am not sure when it will become available over here.

I assume youd have to change the product code like people have done with n97/5800 etc etc so its recognised as a Generic European 1 instead of network branded.
Should be some guides online
