Private blood draw?

I am wondering is there any walk in clinic or hospital in Ireland where I can get blood drawn? I am ordering a test myself from a private lab abroad because my doctor is in another country. I will then be bringing the results to him. So, literally all I need is someone to take the blood and then I will send it to the lab abroad.

I could get him to rx the draw and get it done when I got to see him, but it would be so much easier to be able to bring the results to him without having to waste 3 months waiting.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

Why not get an Irish GP to order up the tests- and you can wander into any hospital and get the phlebotomy clinic to draw the bloods? They'll do all the lab work etc- and you'll have the results sent to the GP fairly quickly.

A foreign Rx won't be honoured at an Irish hospital.......

To be perfectly honest- I'd be surprised if your doc in another country was willing to go on results from a hospital/clinic/lab he/she was unfamiliar with. He/she will most probably order their own tests if/when you visit them.......

The nurse in your usual GPs office will usually be happy enough to do this for you if they are familiar with your circumstances. If they aren't familiar with your new doctor or you don't want to have it done at your GPs you can ring around other doctors in your area and if they'll be ok with it. You'll probably find someone who will do it.

I was seeing a specialist in another part of Ireland ftor a while and my GP regularly took blood for me at the specialists reques and faxed results onto him.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Smccarrick: This particular test is not common in Ireland and I don't know anyone that has got it. So, I couldn’t get my normal GP here to order it in an Irish hospital. I would have to go to a specialist here and I have wasted enough money on clueless specialists here, that I don’t want to go to another one when I FINALLY have an excellent world famous doctor abroad who is actually helping me get well.

Chilly: Thanks for the suggestions of ringing other GPs. I will give that a try. Cheers!

Drzhivago: One can fed ex bio materials. I have done this before. I am not sure of regular post, but bio materials usually need to be rushed by courier anyway.

Thanks A MILLION everyone! You have all been very helpful.
