Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Battle to make the cut now.

Have a word with yourself pal. He was never in danger of missing the cut.

Great finish to get in at Level.

fair play ,could easily have missed cut after that start, might be a bit too far back but all depends if he can go low tomorrow, the 15th owe him an eagle,

Very solid after a bad start. Great to see.

    He was actually.

When I posted he was 3 over and right on the projected cut line having just bogeyed the 11th.

    And I'm not your pal.

agree,he definitely could have crumbled under that start.Impressed the way he battled back but he still only parred the par 5s which is awful if he wants to finish high.In fact the difference between him and Rose on par 5s is 7 shots!!

Fair play to him, battling finish both days. Has had a pair of 6s in both rounds so even par and top 20 into weekend gives him something to build on.

Out with Fleetwood today. Recovered well from a bad start missed a chance as course was playing easier. Par 5’s is the big difference in where he is and in the pointy end. Maybe a change of tactic

So why is Shane scoring so badly on the par 5s?

His driving is quite good and his short game is excellent. Is it that he keeps trying to go for the green in two and keeps getting into trouble? Or is some of the issue psychological?

I don't like his driving action, so easy to block the ball right like that

67 or 68 should put him right in the mix going into Sunday

Seems a more aggressive/around the body swing than before... Or am I imagining that

Conditions meant to be a lot tougher today with pin positions and wind. Hopefully suits Shane.

    Thought the same myself too.

Didn't like the look of it at times.

    Doing very well though !

Good finish would be great today, set him up for a shot at a top 10 tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,428 ✭✭✭dublin49

nasty chip back to green on 15th when play resumes .will be happy with par I suspect, would be great to finish 2 or 3 under

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,776 ✭✭✭abff

Disappointing 3 putt from around 30 feet at the 16th. Back to level par.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,750 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

Terrible 3 putt, 2 awful putts!

Rain delay a disaster for him. He should have been in the clubhouse while leaders faced worst of the conditions. Instead they will be firing at pin on soft greens all afternoon

Bad luck alright, although disaster is a bit strong.

cant win from level so good strong performance needed to get some decent ryder cup points.

    Disappointing.

He’s been doing badly on the par 5s all year. Just looking at this week I think he’s -1 for par 5s. That won’t get the job done at Augusta. Matsuyama is -9, Rose is -7 as examples of players at the top of the leaderboard so his game otherwise is right there.

All about how many ranking points he can pick up today for Ryder Cup. Not too many other Europeans up there.

Top 10 would go some way towards that, hopefully he can post 68 or better and that should do it.

    Bounced back very well

  • Registered Users Posts: 517 ✭✭✭benji79

Top 10 would be brilliant result

He looks in good control of things from the shots I’ve seen so far. Just hope he manages to stay away from doubles, they’ve killed him recently

Just 3 putted the 9th from about 10 foot when he had a great chance to move into tge top 10

    Godammit, he three putted nine!

    Really bad 3 putt

Not cack handed anymore I see , plus really narrow stance too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,776 ✭✭✭abff

Not at all sure what happened there. Playing great then 3 putts from 19 feet.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,843 ✭✭✭Panrich

Watery grave at 12 as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

Good birdie bounce back on 13, can still get a top 10 with a hot finish, but should be a top 20 either way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,750 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

He been over the back on nearly every par 5 this week

In fairness - best week for him in a while - and could easily have been near top. A big step up in performance.

He was very poor in 2020 - what is your point.

3 on 18 would get him into the top 12, and an invite for next year's masters. 4 might as well, if a couple of players drop back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Poor 3 putts at 9 and 18 to bogey both

Scrap that, wrong caption for putt on 18 but still a bogey

He already has an exemption from winning The Open.

Disappointing to finish with a bogey at the 18th. Decent enough finish, but could have been so much better.
