Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Steady start anyway, -2 after 4.

  • Registered Users Posts: 713 ✭✭✭loadwire

got to -3 briefly but has fallen back to level par now. Still 5 holes left, hopefully he can regroup and finish under par.

Finished with a bird, nice to finish below par, same again and he should make the cut

    Hopefully. C'mon Shane.

Is a trip to the masters still open to him if he finishes high enough?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,197 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Well, put it this way, if he wins then he's in, I think (but stand to be corrected) he would have to break the top 50, not really possible without a significant finish.

Not thats it's likely but top 3.

Of course a top 10 would move him up the rankings and give him another chance next week.

Lets hope he makes the cut today for starters, very congested around -1 and par.

Thats not right, a win only here is the last spot AFAIK!

Maybe you misunderstood me, im not saying a top 3 for anyone. The winner gets in regardless of WGC rankings but a top 3 for Shane could jump from 69th to top 50.

Really hope Sky show a bit of his round tonight. Come on Shane. Hope he's off on the easier back 9,ease himself into a sub-par round and get to see the irish flag on the shot tracker for the weekend.

Afternoon scoring 2 shots harder than morning yesterday

Same expected today maybe shot and a half as the course is drying out
Making the cut would be great

Hope he does better but 4 rounds would be more valuable experience as he is progressing along nicely every year

    Ouch! Double bogey 7 at the 4th. Includes a 3 putt from 7 feet.

    Shot tracker wasn't pretty :o

Good start blown, outside the cut now.

Keep it steady til the turn, there's shots out there on the back 9.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,249 ✭✭✭Steven81

Bogey on the 7th, 1 over overall

Another short putt missed. Hopefully he can claw it back on the back 9.

Cut looks like it's gone out to evens, one shot outside it:mad:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,080 ✭✭✭bigtimecharlie

    Hopefully he can make it.

Won't make it now, double bogey on 12th.

Another double bogey on the 12th. That's that.

bugger, going to be a good experience for him all the same though.

Does the golf seem very slow to you. Only checking every hour or so but it seems like they are barely moving. I know Shane likes to play fast so might be finding it hard to get a rhythm going.

    Upgraded to a triple bogey!!!!!!!

    Upgraded to a triple bogey!!!!!!!

3 putts from 5 feet to go with the 3 putts from 7 feet earlier, poor day for him. This will be his 4th consecutive strokeplay missed cut.

And only missed the cut by 2 after all that! The pair of 7's was the killer :(

He just can't afford to be 3 putting from 7feet ever!!!

And then to do it from 5feet a few holes later is just outrageous.

They ended up getting round in 4hrs 40mins. Probably a fast round by PGA standards.

Pity he missed the cut, but his game must be coming good if he finished that close with 2 disaster holes.

Yeah doing well on the sponsor invites, he'll be back in Europe to play the Spanish open then back over to U.S again for the Zurich Classic.

Its funny. Shane has lasted longer on tour since this thread started then most if his begruders have lasted on boards. Go on shane.

Back to level par today 2 under. C'mon Shane, get the weekend out of it. A 9footer for birdie on the 14th.....which he sinks for 3 under!

He seems to have allot of 3 putts which really is just sloppy at this level as tee to green he seems to be flying..

seems to have a tendency to miss a few short ones alright. Hopefully a par up the last to be top 30 heading into weekend.

He's safely in the clubhouse and 3 inside the current cut so should be around for the weekend :pac:

Good recovery by Shane to get back to level par after dropping 3 shots early on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,776 ✭✭✭abff

Looks like I jinxed him. Bogey at ten.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

    That triple killed his card.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,430 ✭✭✭Ilik Urgee

On a day of not much happening evens is well acceptable. Missed the whole lot, was it windy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,750 ✭✭✭redzerdrog
