Christmas is a magical time for children, but this year the reality is that many families will be facing a desperately bleak Christmas due to the damage to their homes by the worst flooding in living memory.

Hundreds of children have seen their favourite toys and prized possessions of great sentimental value destroyed or washed away. Many households are experiencing huge financial loss and parents are struggling to make Christmas as normal as possible by finding even one or two presents to put under the tree. It’s one of the hardest things in the world for any parent to contemplate disappointing their kids at Christmas…
So here’s how you can help!

The Fitzwilliam Card Club’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal is for these flood victims, so we need big hearted people to donate toys suitable for all children up to aged 14.

Just drop your gifts in to our friendly staff at the Fitzwilliam Card Club reception on Lower Fitzwilliam Street before Friday 18th December.

We’re open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so your gifts are welcome day or night! Where possible, please ensure that toys are new or in near perfect condition and clearly indicate the age group they’re intended for.

Through St Vincent de Paul in Athlone, we will distribute all toys collected to those families who without your help might otherwise have a very unhappy Christmas. So be big hearted and please give generously!

For more information, drop into the Club in Clifton Hall, Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2, call 01-6114677 or email reception@fitzwilliamcardclub.com

Just an update on this - the Club cannot take cash donations - if you want to make a cash donation, you can do so directly with the Red Cross here: http://www.redcross.ie.
